Oh, this is very nice! The characterization of Ivan here is good, and yes, I can see them getting together in exactly this way. And Byerly comes through very well here, too. Thanks for a very enjoyable read!

Beautiful.

I really liked the characterisation in this fic - to me it seemed spot on. Kareen was very Cordelia-like, being supportive and understanding without actually *telling* him what to do/feel/etc, instead guiding Ivan to reach his own conclusions. That makes sense to me because she's spent those two years on Beta Colony, in close proximaty to pschyologists, what with Mark and all. And having grown up Barrayan, with a full understanding of their predjudices, she can certantly empathise with Ivan, maybe even better than Cordelia could have.

Ivan was georgeous, loved his interaction with By, especially his attempt to 'seduce' him.

But I think my favourite part was the sex scenes. You managed to make them erotic and tender and give enough detail to satisfy without going into blow-by-blow (well, kinda :D), clinical description of 'throbbing manhoods' and 'pucked openings' etc, which takes real talent, IMO.

So, thank you for such a beautiful fic, and here's hoping that there will be more!

Oh oh oh, excellent. Yay for Ivan/Byerly! I love the idea of drunken Ivan getting it on with Byerly, and then waking up all bewildered the next morning. They were both very good here. Ivan's such a sweetie. I liked how By was his smooth, amused self, but also we're seeing that other things are going on as well. I thought Kareen was a little off, but I'm not sure why. Very helpful, I know :). There was just something about that scene that didn't ring true ::shrugs::. And I have to lodge a complaint. The sex was hot, but there were only two scenes! Ivan needs at least three sex scenes per fic. It ought to be a law ::nods::. But seriously, awesome story. There's not enough Ivan/Byerly in the world ::wails::.

Very enjoyable. A new pairing for me but I would love to see more of this story. I particularly like the glimpses of Byerly that you bring out; his vulnerability and concern for Ivan.

To the first reviewer, I'd add that I'm going to explore the issue of just how big a deal it is or isn't on Barrayar in that one, just a bit. Because while obviously Aral/Ges happened, and people knew, it was a "great, secret scandal." So it's not unknown, but also not exactly accepted.

A friend and I were just discussing this particular pairing this past weekend. Lovely to see someone also thinks along the same lines. May I print this out?

I loved the morning after...not remembering at first...then sneaking out like a thief in the night. And the description of By's body is very thought-provoking. So can I print it out?

Very nice tone, good voice. Not sure the career is at risk, this is Barrayar, where men together aren't a big deal. Aral went his rounds, after all. Interesting distinction between By, the clothed PiA, and By, hot lover.
