So far I'm really enjoying this story for the characterizations, but I'm hoping the pace will pick up in the next chapter.

This looks like the start of a good story. I'm interested in seeing where you go with this, and I can't wait to see how the birthday party will go. :D

im captivated, please write more. my only criticism is that there was no dialogue in this chapter, just narration. i understand that the first chapter is where the plot and characters are set up, but keep dialogue in mind for chapter two. id luuuuuuuuuurve to read a back-and-forth between a confused, adolescent charlie and a barely-restrained wonka. yummyness.... so yeah, more chapters!!!
