"Love, that warm blanket I felt from him more often now…
Tenderness, a soft touch to my soul that warmed me inside…
Compassion, so similar to tenderness, yet so much more compelling…
Pain, like a knife wound in the gut…
Worry, leaving such a strange metallic taste…
Anger, so sharp a flare it stung my eyes…
Fury, like nothing I had ever felt, was a fire opposite that of passion; it burned a painful streak like no other that caused me to shake…" ?? Honestly, I HATE you for coming up with this! O_o It's so brilliant, so stunning, so strong in meaning... so very thoughtful. And it's not from me. *sobs, then sulks*
(By the way, your explanation of worry being metallic is brilliant - when I read it, I could really feel it as well since it's so logical. None of us should bite their lip in the Cullens' presence, though... I don't want any corpses on our show! *lol*)

Don't mention the blood brownies... *shudders* Edward was all weirder than usual (and that's quite something...) afterwards, getting hyper and jumping around like a guinea pig on XTC, singing songs from "The Sound of Music" and doing other freaky, scary things. I think next time, you should perhaps put some tranquilizer into those brownies... Edward sedated, helpless and willing? Hehe, now THAT gives me quite a few ideas how to spend time around our favorite Mr. Cullen... ;P

I'm impressed, you did a surprisingly good job of portraying that. Not many people can. Only one thing would be that he as very trusting of physical contact for one who was molested but good job. I'm not talking about now but when Jasper and Whitaker first met.

So glad to see Whitaker open up to Jasper. I just want to hug poor Whitaker, but I guess Jasper is taking care of that well enough. Another superb chapter!

wow...just wow. It's still amazing how understanding Whitaker can be after that.

on a slightly unrelated note, I read "What is it love?" as "What is love", and now I have to go look up the song. Thanks for that

For chapter 29- Anticlimatic? I noticed not only one, but two climaxes(sp?) there!

*cue 'Clue' theme music* Was it an uncle, in the basement, with a bottle of lube? Or... Was it the family friend/teacher, in the bedroom, with his 'lead pipe'? Those are my theories, since it can't be his dad, or he wouldn't has been saying "sorry Dad".

@GoM - It probably couldn't tell me itself because as far as I know, jellyfish don't have mouths...or vocal chords. And I think Book and yourself are the only two with a pseudo-psychic connection to the thing. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to install spitoons for all the drooling I'm going to be doing imagining the good doctor making a house call!

Loved it! Thanks for updating so soon. I can't wait to read more! My theory is he was probably forced sexually - either by a stranger or possibly someone close to him (a relative?), and his Dad found him afterwards. I only meant by writing style is that I'm used to lengthy, drawn out paragraphs that take half a page to get to the point (actually, that's my style of writing ^^; ) and yeah, usually not in the first person. I like your style though. :) It's descriptive, but straight to the point and easy to read. Great work! Keep it up!

Really emotional and strong chapter. I enjoyed it so much that I actually forgot to hate Edward for causing all that trouble… *lol*

Theories? Well, I was already right with Edward back then, which gives me the liberty to come up with pretty much everything by now. ;) I would say some sort of abuse, definitely (including someone Whitaker knew well… like a relative), although I wouldn’t quite settle on rape, judging by what you’ve let us see through the flashback. I could be wrong, though. And I’m sure you’ll find the “right” past anyway, so why bother?? *lol*

Sure, he’s a newborn and everything, and it should be only logical for him to feel everything in a very different way, yet so many stories just make the change from human to vampire like the purchase of a new couch and – voila, nothing else. That’s why I had to praise it. You pay attention to even the small things. That’s simply admirable. ^_^

@ Zynda: Actually, our JoD is rather shy… and not very good with words, either. We taught him a few helpful lines a couple years ago, but you’re right, with a missing mouth it seems a bit difficult to get them out. He does have vocal chords, though. Don’t EVER let him take a shower at your place – he hums the walls down (literally)… not to mention that he needs like ten towels afterwards. O_o
Book and myself having a pseudo-psychic connection to the JoD? Ahem… I’d love to take all the honors, but it’s partly thanks to Edward who has to translate between us. That could be why he’s often grumpy in our presence and needs “to do the laundry badly – sorry, guys, no time for translating during the next three days!” I told him to just say “no” or request a blood cookie in return, but would Mr. Brainless Cullen listen to me or the Book?!? :(
“I need to install spitoons for all the drooling I'm going to be doing imagining the good doctor making a house call!” *lol* You’re too funny… I always die laughing while reading your reviews and reply reviews! ;) And it’s probably no wise idea to now add that Carlisle’s gonna call you tonight, around nine-ish… probably more drooling, I know… ^_^

This is a great story. I would say more, but I've got the flu and that's just about all I'm capable of right now. Love it!

Wow! I'm surprised by how much I'm enjoying this story. Your writing style isn't usually my favorite to read, but with yours I love it! I particularly liked all the tactile and emotional descriptions of the last chapter. As soon as I finished reading, I only wished there was more, so I can keep going! Very nice story. I love Whitaker and his relationship with Jasper. I wonder what's to come out of the upcoming 'confrontation' with Edward. Keep it up! I hope you're able to post more soon!
