Summary: Slightly AU. Only slightly. Before the War of the Lance, Tika is saved from the
harassment of bullies by an unlikely source. Will this change what happens during the
Chronicles later or will things remain the same.

Author’s Note: Definitely not even remotely related to Blue Star or the True Sight Saga.
Completely stand alone unless I write more along these lines.

Prolog

Tika Waylan was only a young girl but on the cusp of being a young woman. Otik sighed heavily
as he watched her run down the stairs from the tree-top walkways to take the latest grocery order
to Stephan’s grocer on the ground level of Solace. When she was out of sight he turned his
attention from the window to the customers within.

A few had left, and good riddance. The three men had the look of thieves and he did not care for
that type. Resolving to contact the local sheriff he went back to his bar and to running the Inn of
the Last Home.
