Chapter Ten: The Chimera

As the dark clouds covered the Castle Stronghold, a chill raced through Kit's body.Lara stepped out of the way upon reaching the beast's lair. Kit stared with wide eyes at her first sight of the Chimera. It apeared to be asleep. Even then it managed to shoot fear into the hearts of these few brave warriors.

Even the Green Archer herself.

" Is this it?" Kit asked.

" It's sleeping..shh." Lara whispered pointing at the slumbering beast, slowly tip toeing towards it.
Abruptly she called out as she tripped over a rock,Kit dove towards Lara and clamped her hand over the Valkarie's mouth. All suddenly had fallen silent, as dark clouds shadowed above the three fighters.

Jarlaxle looked around, his eye catching sight of one of the massive claws twitch, he had hopped that Lara did not waken it. However there was the sound of a low growl, which made the drow slowly draw his sword. Kit let go of Lara and removed the Scimitar from the case upon her back. Lara looked around cautiously.

Suddenly one of the claws slammed upon the ground, creating a large crack in the stone and so immediately Lara drew her sword” It's awake!” She screamed as the three headed monster came forward, roaring so loud the place itself shook.

Kit darted towards the Chimera “ You two attack it after me!” She shouted slidding under the beast while Jarlaxle and Lara decided to distract it anyhow.

Kit leapt up and lodged the Scimitar straight down deep into the middle head ,upon doing this she slipped back……….

Lich's Crypt…….

Legolas had been thrown back as his men ignored it and dashed towards the Lich. Arrows and throwing daggers stuck out of this tall zombie like creature. And still Lich stood tal, and mighty above the wood elves, slamming his axe into the ground creating a wave of dark energy which knocked back the wood elves.

Legolas darted towards him ducked and rolled around him, slashing his thighs then while the other elves continued to shoot arrows, Legolas climbed up the Lich's back and lodged his sword into his head, leaping then off his back.

The wood elf looked up and drew his bow, letting loose arrow after arrow, which rapidly lodged into Lich, finally when Legolas noticed Lich slump a bit, he smile and grabbed a circle shaped shield from one of his men and used it like a snowboard and skidded around and under Lich's leg, using his sword to quickly hack away at the Lich. Then he tried the back again, leaping up and onto his shoulders then he jumped down so that he sat upon the shoulders, giving one then two arrows into the Lich's eyes. Blinding him.

Legolas leapt off again and began to shoot once more, while his soldiers attacked from the front and the back. Stabbing the Lich through and through, until finally the Lich collapsed to the ground. A claw popped up from a hole and grabbed Lich, pulling him down into the Abyss, for eternity the Horrifying Lich was gone. Around the area wood elves cheered loud which their arms up in the air with pride……

Chimera's Keep…..

For Lara, Jarlaxle, and Kit the battle against the Chimera was not that easy. As Kit ran kicking then stabbing the Chimera, she used the serpent's neck to swing upon the back of the beast. Lara began to toss her throwing daggers at the beast, while Jarlaxle used his own sets of magic daggers, drawing then his own hand cross bow, he aimed and shot.

Kit at that time drew her double bows and shot straight into the remaining heads from behind upon it's large shoulders. She had managed to come up behind the eagle's head and snap it into from under it's skin, and had little time to admire her work. The serpent roughly sent Kit into the air, catching her with the claws.

Kit called out as the claw stabbed her through her back.” Kit!” Jarlaxle called out upon witnessing her beloved being thrown into a piller. The impact of her body shattered the stone. She attempted to draw her bow and shoot it. Her arm grew shaky.

“ Help her!” The drow demanded towards Lara.”Now!”

Lara nodded and did as told, while Jarlaxle kept the serpent head distracted. Abruptly arrows struck the beast, Jarlaxle turned, a group of drow charged in, finishing the weakened serpent head off. It fell to the ground, never to rise again.

“ Kit look!” Lara shouted happily trying to keep Kit conscious. “ Your drow friends!” She pointed, the female elf could only nod slightly blacking out as the human held her head in her lap.

“ She's loosing blood rapidly.” Lara began. Jarlaxle and Drizzt, who was one of the drow to come to help, knelt down to Kit. Lara looked at them, then back down at Kit,” She's dying! Help her!” She shouted.

Jarlaxle looked at Drizzt then stared down at Kit. Drizzt spoke,” She's not dying. Not yet. We'll take her back to camp, when we get there, we'll witness the magic of Sumner.”

Lara rolled her eyes,” That so called wizard couldn't make maggets disappear from his butt. I doubt he could make her wounds disappear.”

Drizzt looked angrily at her, ”What choice do we have?!” Lara and Drizzt after argued on and on.

Jarlaxle stood” We've not the time to fight! Kit may die before…..”

“ SILENCE!!!!” A voice boomed, Lloth herself emerged into the light, whispers echoed from the drow that stood within the keep. Lloth approached them, her eyes upon Kit. “ She will live.” Lloth began.” Let them take her to Rivendale. The Sea Elves there will heal her.” Lloth said to Jarlaxle.

The dark elf general's eyes widened” Queen Lloth if I may, the Rivendale elves hate the drow.” He stated.

Lloth looked at him “True but they are allies to the wood elves, so they will treat the Green Archer. “ She explained.

“ How far is Rivendale?” Lara asked.

“ not far, just follow the river. You shall know where to cross when you reach it.” Lloth said. Then
looked at Jarlaxle” You watch her. And you….” She began as she looked at Lara,” …stand with her. The realms depend on your bravery Lara. Both of you young ladies are the salvation of the realms.”

Soon the army moved out on horse back, Lara rode up to Jarlaxle.” So.” She began.

Jarlaxle looked at her,” What?” He had lifted his eyebrow.

“ Are you and Kit….you….know….doing it….” Lara began.

“No.” Jarlaxle said flatly making it as simple as he could.

“ Oh so you two are just friends?”

Jarlaxle shook his head,” Kit and myself are much more. But there is nothing concerning you human.”

Lara shrugged,” Just curious that's all. But you do love her…right?”

“ Yes, I do. I always have loved Kit. “ Jarlaxle answered.” I have known Kit for years. Since we were children even. We were separated and have just currently reunited.” He paused and noticed a barely glowing star in the sky.

Glaring angrily, the Wrath threw bottles across the room, his eyes glowing red with fury. He turned to one of his General Demons,” Your armies have done nothing for me!” He hissed.

The general growled lowly,” She is too strong.” He answered “ She seems to ignore you.” He stated, the Wrath looked at him,

“ We must get her to fight. By destroying her I will become a god in reality. “ He said as a wicked idea came to mind.

“ I for see something….a child….” His voice trailed off, as he sensed the Green Archer's presence even then.
