chapter 12

The next day my mother dropped me of downtown on 54th st and Lakeview.
She gave me 50 dollars to spend. Big whoop.
The first place I went was The Riot. And you wouldn’t guess who I found there. Alice. She was wearing a pair of jeans and a hooded sweater. She had the Madd wand sticking out of her back pocket. I followed her in. but careful as to not let her know I was there. Walked down the aisle quickly and quietly. I found her staring intently into Lewis Carroll’s mirror. I snuck up behind her a pulled the Madd out of her back pocket. The moment I touched it I felt the power run through me. The wire holding my jaw snapped and my jaw realigned itself. I felt it run all the way through my arm. I took the sling off my arm and moved it around. I was healed! Alice tried to grab hold of the wan, but I pulled it away. She grabbed my hair and yanked down. I smashed her on the head with the wand. She stumbled back a bit. But she regained her balance and lunged towards me. I grabbed her and she grabbed me and we began to struggle with each other. I slammed her into the wall.
“You Alice are under arrest by order of the Queen. You will be thrown into the darkest pits of wonderland and never heard from again.” I said to her with an evil grin.
“No!” She screamed as she pushed me away. I heard a distinct metallic sound. I looked back at the mirror and saw it ripple.
The Mirror wanted me to throw Alice in it. I need to get Alice out of the picture.
I was brought back to the fight by a fist to my temple. I grabbed Alice’s thick blonde hair and swung her around and pushed her into the mirror. She sunk in to it. I looked at the mirror then at the wand.
“Undo what has been done.” I said as I raised the wand in the air.
Nothing. Nothing happened. Why?
“How does this damn thing work?” I said as I shook.
Damn it, only the Hatter Knew how to work it. I would have to wait until Tuesday. Or I could go now. No I have to find a safe place for the mirror that is how we can get home. Damn it all to fucking hell.
“Can I help you.” came a small and creepy voice. I nearly jumped out of my skin.
“Holy crap you scared me.” I said as I placed my hand on my beating heart.
“I do apologize but can I help you with anything?” he asked once again.
“Yes I wish to purchase this mirror.” I said to him.
“Ah yes this is a fine mirror but for a fine mirror comes a fine price.” He said to me.
“How much?” I asked him.
“two grand.” He said to me.
“easy enough I’ll take it.” I said to him.
“How would you like to take it home we can put it in your car or I can send it to you.” I sat there and pondered out loud for a second.
“I can not take it home for it is not safe there. I could put in a storage unit but that is risky as well. If only, if only. There were a place that was safe from the world. Someplace in the middle of no where.” I began to think about it.
“Are you looking for some property?” He asked me.
“I’m looking for something that will bothered. I wish to keep this mirror a secret for a while.” I said to him.
“you know, my good pal Ernie he had this gas station out in the middle of the desert. No one ever came to it. He’ s had in the family for as long as I can remember. Sadly though he died last month and his no good daughter is trying to sell.” He said to me.
“you said no one ever goes there?” I asked him.
“Well yes, you see all the roads have been covered by dirt and sand so there are no real road to get to it. But I must say it would be a bad investment on you part. It has no more gas.” The old man began to laugh. I liked this guy he was a mad as me.
“I wish to purchase the place please give my the number to the daughter that is selling it. And I wish to have the mirror delivered there.” I said to him.
“you don’t need to call her. She works right next door.” he said to me.
I paid him for the mirror and since he obviously knew where the place was he didn’t need the address.
I left the Riot and walked into the dinner that was next door.
