Chapter Twelve

Thank you for the reviews! Here's the next chapter, as requested. :)
Warning (if you could really consider it one): M/M, and part of the reason it's adult. ;)

I went to take a shower, but I couldn’t stay standing. Another wave of despair washed over me and I slid to the floor, wrapping my arms around my knees. The sobs returned. The warm water washing over me began to cool, but I didn’t care. I didn’t care about much anymore. I cried harder as memories of my beloved grandfather bombarded my conscious mind. I heard a knock on the door, but I didn’t answer. I felt cool air as the shower curtain was pushed back. I felt no shame that I was naked, even when Jasper turned off the water and scooped me into his arms.

“Whitaker… You’re going to get sick,” he murmured. He toweled me off and dressed me in a pair of boxers and pajama pants. He picked me up again and carried me to my bed. He bundled me in blankets and sat beside me. “Sleep, love,” he whispered when I whimpered. “I’m not going anywhere.” I felt another wave of emotion wash over me, but this one was different. It was serenity, but it didn’t seem to come from me.

“Jasper,” I whispered.

“Shh. I’m here.”

“Make me feel better. Please.” He froze.

“How?”

“Make love to me. Make me forget what happened.”

“I won’t take advantage of you, not in your condition. You’re not thinking clearly.”

“You won’t be taking advantage of me. I want this.”

“Love, no you don’t. You’ve been through a traumatic experience. You just need rest.”

“Please,” I whimpered. He gently kissed my lips.

“I won’t make love to you, but I can try to make you feel better.” I nodded. He moved the blankets back and kissed my lips again. Then, he began trailing kisses down my neck and chest. I could feel my body already responding to his. His cold hands drifted down my body, barely touching me. I shivered from the feather-light caresses. His mouth teased my nipples and moved farther down. I was highly aroused, and he hadn’t yet reached his destination. I gasped when his hand ran lower, ghosting across my erection. His head lifted from my body as he pulled down my pajama pants and boxers. My hands were balled into fists by my side. He leaned down and breathed over my arousal, causing me to shiver again. Then, thankfully, he licked a thin line up my straining shaft. My hips bucked; I had never felt anything like it! There was a jolt of pleasure down my spine as he continued wrapping his tongue around me. When I felt something cold settled around the head of my arousal, I almost came. I had to look; Jasper had engulfed me in his mouth. His hooded gaze met my own. He was getting as much pleasure from this as I was. He released me from his mouth and said, “Let go, love. I’ll be here to catch you.” His mouth was back on me and I laced my fingers in his blonde locks.

“Jasper!” I cried. I felt a tightening in my belly, so I tugged at his hair to get him to move; he didn’t budge. Instead, he deepthroated me and began humming. I lost it, then. The tightness in my lower abdomen spread like fire and ice through my veins, and I came into his awaiting mouth. My back arched with the pleasure. I had never felt anything so strong before. Jasper fixed my pants and pulled the blankets back around me. I sighed in contentment.

“Thank you for that,” I mumbled.

“No problem, love. Feel better?”

I nodded. “Sleep beside me, please? I don’t want to be alone.” He kissed my temple and climbed into bed behind me, spooning me to his chest. I noticed he was in pajamas… When did he change? I rolled over to face him. “It’s your turn, I think.”

“No, love. This was for you. Tonight was yours. Sleep.” I closed my eyes. Even though Jasper’s body was cold, I barely felt it. “Happy birthday,” he whispered as I drifted towards peaceful oblivion.

I slept peacefully that night, unlike the night my parents died. I didn’t have Jasper then, but I was glad to have him now.

I woke up in a strange cold warmth. I was curled around something that felt like ice, while my back was on fire from something I was wrapped in. I opened my eyes and saw an expanse of pale, muscled flesh. I started, but then realized it was just Jasper, and I must have rolled during the night. I sighed and settled back down, kicking off the blankets as I did so.

“You’re going to freeze without those,” I felt him rumble. I traced a hand over his chest. He was muscled, but not overly so, like the wall that was Emmett.

“I’m fine,” I yawned. “They were too warm, anyway.” I continued to trace his pectorals and abdomen; he shivered and sighed. “But if you need them, I don’t mind.”

“Why would I need them?”

“You’re always so cold… Doesn’t it bother you?”

“…I’m used to it.”

“Thank you…for last night.” He lifted my head from his shoulder and gently pressed his lips to mine. When he traced my bottom lip with his tongue, I eagerly parted my lips. His tongue swirled around mine, softly dominating my mouth. I slid my body up for better access to his mouth, but he rolled me over so he was hovering above me. I whimpered when our mouths separated.

“Anything for you, love.” I leaned up to meld our lips again.

Someone cleared their throat nearby.

“Not again,” I groaned.

“Maybe you should start closing the door,” the person said.

“Edward, please leave for a minute,” Jasper said, not taking his eyes from mine.

“Just a minute? Wow, you guys are fast.” I heard an animalistic growl come from Jasper. I shuddered from the arousal it caused. “I’m going, I’m going.”

“Where were we?” I asked. He kissed my lips one last time and sat up.

“We were trying to calm down,” he replied. I groaned dramatically. He smirked at me as I stood and made my way to the bathroom.

When I returned to my room, Jasper was already dressed. I grabbed clean clothes and began changing.

“Where are you going?” I asked when Jasper walked towards the door.

“Don’t you want some privacy?” he asked. I chuckled.

“You’ve already seen everything I’ve got. Why are you nervous?” I leaned over to pull up my jeans, but I stopped when he groaned.

“I’m afraid I may not be able to control my actions,” he answered quietly. My breathing picked up, but I wasn’t sure if it was fear at the finality of his words or lust at their implications. I dressed quickly.

“Then I’ll try not to tempt you.” I stretched with another yawn. “I need to make sure Gramps is up.” Jasper grabbed my arm as I walked by.

“Whitaker…he’s not here.”

“What are you talking about? Of course he is. He’s just sleeping late today.”

“…He died yesterday. You found him…in the living room.”

I laughed. “He’s just sleeping. What are you going on about?” His eyes showed shock and fear and…something else…

“Your grandfather had a heart attack yesterday afternoon before you got home from school. I was with you when you found him.” He grabbed my face because I was shaking my head vehemently. “Listen to me, love. He’s—”

“He’s just sleeping!” I screamed. Jasper seemed taken aback, but he let me go. “I’ll prove it to you.” I stalked down to my grandfather’s room and knocked on the door. “Gramps? Are you up?” I got no answer, so I slowly opened the door. There was no one in the room and his bed was made up.

“I’m telling you…” He stopped when I turned a glare on him. I couldn’t believe him.

“Gramps?” I called. No answer. I searched the entire house, but I couldn’t find him anywhere.

“What’s going on?” Edward whispered to Jasper.

“He still thinks his grandfather is alive. He won’t listen,” Jasper replied in hushed tones.

“I can’t find him,” I muttered.

“Whitaker, do you know what happened yesterday?” Edward asked.

“Yeah. I came home as usual. Gramps went to bed early, and Jasper stayed the night.”

“Do you trust me?”

“…Yes.”

“Would you believe something I said?”

“I suppose.”

“Whitaker, your grandfather had a heart attack yesterday. The EMTs couldn’t resuscitate him. Do I need to take you to the hospital to prove it?”

I hesitated, but I nodded.

“Come on,” he sighed.

We loaded into Edward’s silver Volvo and he drove us to the hospital.

Uh-oh. Memory problems again.
Zynda--I know Emmett is normally blunt, but I like to believe he has a tactful side. :)
KaieAithne--I updated. :) I know it's fast-paced, but...I guess it kind of needs to be...
Gaps of Misery--I have a feeling this story will be a very dramatic one, but it seems nothing around Jasper is ever happy-go-lucky. Ya know? Anyway, sorry, I'm really trying not to! It just sorta...happened. lol And the Emmett story...I want your input about the OC. What/who do you think they should be? Descriptions and everything, if you want. :)
