Chapter 14) Thrust and Fear… Part 2)
Alexandra drew her knees up to her chest and rested her forehead against her them.
When her shoulders began to ache she lifted her head and leaned it back against the headboard as she used her good foot to push herself higher in the bed.
She had no idea of how much time had passed since he had left her. But she had used time to think.
Leaving him and his home was no longer an option. And from the bits and pieces of what she had heard from his conversation with Sebastian, she knew that he had asked the man to guard her when he went away. So she knew that she would never be truly alone.
Plus she thought about the items that he had brought her.
She knew he had done it to be kind. And that she in some way should show him her gratitude.
But the questions that hung heaviest in her heart and mind were. Did she trust him. And could she learn not to fear him.
Yet how could she not fear him. He had beaten and raped her. He was holding her against her will and could do to her what ever he pleased. When ever he pleased.
And as for trusting him, she knew that in reality she had no choice but to try and trust him. It did seem that he held her life in his hands.
But as she sat there naked, blindfolded, and tied to his bed she could not stop her mind from wondering back to the feelings he had stirred within her as he had touched her.
It seemed that no matter what he did to her. No matter how hard she tried to fight. Her body would betray her and she would succumb to him.
And in that moment she realized that she was beginning to crave his touch. That even if it meant that she needed to endure pain and degradation to be in his arms. She would submit to him her body.
She whimpered in pain as she tried to relieve the growing soreness in her shoulders.
Drawing the curtain aside the sound of her piteous and pained whimpers met his ears and he cursed himself.
Alexandra heard the curtain open and froze.
Quickly sitting the tray he carried aside Erik went to the bed and said sadly, “It seems all I have brought you is pain since you have come here. And I should not blame you for mistrusting me and fearing me.”
Reaching out Erik unbound her wrists and watched in horror as she cried out in renewed misery as she lowered her arms.
Wanting to ease her pain, Erik maneuvered her on the bed so he could sit behind her.
As he massaged her shoulders Alexandra began to relax and once the soreness in her shoulders had eased to a dull ache she turned and pressed herself to his chest.
She had heard what he had said and knew it was true. But she also knew that she had brought on much of the pain herself. And that if she would only obey him, maybe he would more gentle with her.
Erik had thought that she would recoil and cower from him once she was released. So he was shocked and confused by her actions.
Still blindfolded she felt his body tense and Alexandra whimpered and softly whispered, “Please… Do not be angry with me. I…I only wanted to…”
Crushing her against his chest, Erik buried his face in her hair and wept. He tried to tell her that he was sorry for all the misery he had wrought upon her. But he could not get the words out. For every time he tried to speak the only thing that would pass his lips were his anguished cries.
Not understanding why he had begun to sob, but wanting to comfort him. Alexandra wrapped her arms around him and began to gently stroke his back.
