purpleranger76: Thanks. I think that question will be answered, somewhat, here in this chapter.

The orb of light exploded to life, brightening the room. Aslan nodded to himself. The attack upon his father had only put him into a dormant state. Nothing could fully kill him.
"Will you bring him back once this is over?"
"I shant be the one to tear Caspian from Susan. Love is good and I do no harm to that which is good."
"They have them running up along the river. This shall end soon," the orb said.
"Yes. Jadis has given Azaroth a wound that she will never forget. She and Zardeenah will fall."

Edmund smiled to himself as he looked down upon Shazarraah. She slept against his chest, peacefully. His arms were wrapped loosely around her. That last fight took a lot out of his warrior Tarkheena. She would make a good queen, a good wife, but he wasn't sure about mother. She didn't strike him to be the maternal type, but he was willing to be pleasantly surprised if she did carry his child.

"I'm worried."
"About what?"
"I'm still scared that..."
"That we'll be separated again?" Caspian asked and Susan nodded. He wrapped his arms around her and held her tightly.
"I don't want to lose you again," she began to sniffle.
"I shall try my best to make sure you don't ever lose me," Caspian reassured her.

He waited. He could feel the Narnian army making its way towards their Position. However, he knew what he needed to do. If he killed Shazarraah, then the Narnians would have to conquer the rest of their citizens instead of winning the Calormen Empire by marriage.
"Charge!" Rishda ordered and the Calormene army met the Narnian army with the river running beside the two fighting forces. Rishda charged past the high king and went for Shazarraah again.
"Not this time!" Edmund grunted and block Rishda's charge. He knew he might get an ear full from Shazarraah, but even she had to admit that she didn't stand a chance against Rishda.

"They are about to fire their fiery arrows!" Jill called out.
"Ready our own! Wait until they fire. Remember, keep your arrows on target!" Susan called out. Fiery arrows flew through over both armies like a flock of phoenixes.

"How does it feel to be under the boot of the Tisroc?" Rishda asked as he put his foot onto Edmund's throat. He then had to leap back from Shazarraah's sword strike. Had he not moved so swiftly, he would be missing a leg.
"My turn," she growled.
"Awe, trying to keep your Narnian dog alive are you?" Rishda taunted and Shazarraah growled.

Peter was highly annoyed at the situation that he was currently faced with. He was surrounded in a circle of Calormene soldiers. He would have to fight through them all in order to get to Rishda. He had been worried when his brother had fallen, but he had breathed a sigh of relief when Shazarraah stopped the killing blow.
"Ahhh!" Caspian shouted and he and Eustace broke into the circle.
"You look like you could use some help," Eustace said.
"Yeah, I may need a hand or two," Peter said with a smile.
888
"This will be most satisfying," Rishda said and raised his blade above his head. The blade came down, but it met Edmund's blade. The king had crawled his way over and had blocked the strike.
"Valiant try, but now you both will die," Rishda said, but his second attempt at a death blow was blocked, this time by Peter.
"Not today," Peter growled.
"What? My men should have been keeping you busy!" Rishda shouted.
"Your men aren't skilled enough to beat Caspian and Eustace," Peter retorted.
"Arg! Fall back!" Rishda shouted and the Calormen army once again fell back up the river.

They are resting comfortably," Peter said, "but we now know what they want. They kill Shazarraah and they guarantee that we'll have to fight to keep the Calormen Empire under Narnian control."
"What do we do?" Caspian questioned.
"Get those hard headed fools married is what I say," Eustace said and Jill rolled her eyes at his brash answer.
"While I don't agree with his wording, I do believe that Eustace has an idea, but who has the authority to marry in this army?" Caspian asked.
"If we were at sea, the captain would marry those two. But, we are not at sea, we are at war. Unless Aslan shows to perform such a ceremony, I guess the responsibility of that duty falls to me. Now, the only other obstacle is to convince those two to go ahead and tie the not," Peter said, scratching his chin.
"I, Lucy, and Jill will work on Shazarraah, you boys can talk to Edmund about the prospects," Susan said with a grin.
Peter sighed, "Susan's plan of action makes since, but what makes you think that you'll have an easier time with Shazarraah than we will with Edmund?"
"I didn't say it would be easier, I'm just saying that we'll have less of a challenge is all," Susan said with a smile.
"Uh oh," Caspian said, "she knows something we don't."
"I doubt that," Eustace retorted.

Tash was in a foul mood. He couldn't believe that Aslan's father had stepped in and had band him from directly interfering with this war. Tash knew that the Narnians were going to try to marry that brother of the high king off to that last daughter of the prior Tarkheena. If that happened, they had a claim to Calormen, which was something that Tash did not want. That would mean that Aslan would have right to enter Calormen held lands and he would not stand for that.
However, he couldn't attack the land where Aslan's father lived. That was so sacred and so filled with good magic that it made him almost mortal if he were to go there. He only had one chance. Setup the last defense at his main temple in Tashbaan. He would be their to make sure Rishda didn't fail him like he currently was. Being in his temple, Zardeenah and Azaroth would also have full advantage. Hopefully, when the time came, the Narnian army would be destroyed, once and for all.
