Chapter Two
Jason stroked Asher's hair. He knew his lover would wake soon. He'd just come from Jean-Claude's room and gotten Edward to stay until the Master of the City woke up. He was worried that Edward was going to leave.Asher woke suddenly, gasping. He was startled at the feel of someone caressing his hair, tensing until his memories rushed back to him, and he opened his eyes, meeting Jason's. "Mon Loup..."He smiled at him. "Good evening...""I feared it a dream..." Asher cupped Jason's face. Jason kissed him. "Nope. I'm still here. I'm afraid Jean-Claude may not be so lucky." He told him what had happened with Edward.Asher scowled. "He is a fool, and not Mon Ami. Edward is an idiot!""I know." He rubbed a hand over his face. "I feel bad.""Non, Jason... it is not your fault..." Sighing, Asher sat up. "It is my own.""That is not true. Jean-Claude made this choice." Jason pressed his hand over Asher's chest."At my urging, Mon Loup." He pushed a hand through his hair."Do not blame yourself because Edward is a moron and can't see what he has." Jason laid down next to him."Is that an order, Jason?" Asher quirked a brow, a smile tugging at his mouth despite himself."Damn straight it is." He told Asher. He smelled Jean-Claude before he knocked on the door."Entre, Mon Ami." Asher called, glancing at Jason. Merde, but he'd like to kill Edward...Jason noted how depressed Jean-Claude looked as he entered. "Edward left didn't he?"The Master of the City laughed bitterly. "But of course. He was so concerned that I would be harmed because of who he was, he left to protect moi." Jean-Claude shook his head. "A joke, Mon Ami... that is all that this relationship has ever been. A Cosmic joke." Asher sighed, pulling his old friend down on the bed next to him and rubbing his back. What was there to say?Jason hugged Jean-Claude. Edward had run off and left his friend broken. He'd kick his ass if he ever saw him again.Jean-Claude hugged his Pomme back, then paused as he noticed their nudity. "I interrupted... I should let you continu-""None, Jean-Claude... you did not interrupt. And Mon Loup and I shall have a very long time indeed to be together, so do not worry."Jason smiled at him. "Yeah. You gave us this, Jean-Claude." He had hoped the vampire would find the same happiness. He shook his head. "Non, Mon Pomme. You would have found this for yourself... though it might have taken you longer." Jean-Claude paused. "Mon Ami, Jason, perhaps we should discuss you being my Pomme de Sang if you are in love with Asher..." Asher glanced between his werewolf and his old friend, sensing a point of weakness. Jean-Claude thought he would lose his good friend as well in this, and yet he had urged them together..."I can still be your Pomme." Jason assured him. "I like spending time with you and I'm sure Asher doesn't mind. Do you, Asher?""Non, of course not, Mon Ami." Asher shook his head. "A pomme de sang is a sacred thing to us-""As is a human servant, Asher." Jean-Claude said softly. "And that will happen between you two...""Oui, Jean-Claude, this is true, however, we have shared before, and I am sure Mon Loup will be willing to share himself between us, with him as your Pomme." Asher glanced at Jason."I don't mind." He said taking Asher's hand in his own. "We're here for you Jean-Claude. Always know that."Jean-Claude nodded, standing. "Merci." He looked at the clock. "I must ready myself for work. You both should stay here today, non?" He moved, silently leaving the room.Asher growled loudly. "I will kill him!" He stood, looking for clothing.Jason grabbed Asher and hugged him. "I do not think that will make Jean-Claude feel better." He said, but he understood his anger.Seething in anger, Asher forced himself to breathe. Very human, oui, but even after seven hundred years, it helped to soothe him when his ire rose. He kissed the spot in between Asher's shoulder blades. "He's an ass, but killing him will only hurt Jean-Claude even more.""I suppose saying, 'but it will make moi feel better' will not suffice for an answer?""I do not think so." Jason hugged him tightly. "Kicking his ass on the other hand...""Would also upset Mon Ami." Asher turned, hugging his lover. "Perhaps we could talk to him however...?""I doubt he'd listen to us." He sighed and press his face into Asher's chest.Asher stroked Jason's back, kissing the top of the wolf's head. "You smell of me...""Well, we did have hot monkey sex in your bed.""Monkey?" Asher laughed suddenly.Jason smiled, glad to hear him laugh."Mon Loup, you are unique, I will give you that." He smiled, kissing the were before pulling back. "We should bathe."He nodded and led him into the bathroom.Asher glanced between his shower and tub. "You pick, Jason."A wicked look entered Jason's eyes. "I'd like to shower.""Bon." Asher moved to the sink, bending to pull out towels.Jason pushed Asher against the sink. He pressed his hard cock against Asher.Asher moaned. "Plotting, Jason?""Not at all. I'm just thinking about taking you now." He growled.Pushing back against the were, Asher smirked. "Then do so.""As you wish." Jason thrust into him.Asher growled, grabbing the sink as he thrust backwards. "Jason...""What? I only did as you asked." He laughed low in his throat as he began to move in and out of the vampire."Merde..." He reached down, stroking his hard cock.Jason swatted his hand away. "Mine..." He wrapped his hand around Asher's cock."God, Dieu, Mon Loup! Je t'adore... I..." Asher groaned, bucking back.He silenced him with a thrust of his hips. Sacre merde... his wolf must have topped often with his last lover, for he knew exactly how to tilt his hips to hit- Asher screamed as Jason did exactly as the vampire was thinking. "You shall make me come..." "That's kind of the point." Jason moaned as he stroked his lover's cock.Jason hit his prostate, and Asher spilled over, coming like a virgin under Jason's skilled touch. He cried out as he poured himself into his lover. "God, Asher..."He leaned against the sink, shaking. "Dieu..."Jason smiled. "Now, we definitely need to shower."Asher turned kissing Jason softly. "And you, Mon Loup, were afraid you wouldn't please me..."He looked away. "I am very inexperienced. I've never topped another man before."Unable to stop himself, Asher's mouth literally fell open. "You... but... Jason... you... how...? I...?""You aren't making sense Asher." Jason kissed him and headed over to the shower.Asher reached out, stopping the were. "Mon Ami, I know MANY men who are not so... so... amazing after years of trying...""I just did what felt natural is all." He felt like blushingLeaning down, Asher brushed his lips over Jason's. "You, Mon Loup, are more amazing that I ever thought possible...""Don't say things like that." Jason quickly headed to the shower. Asher made him out to be this wonderful, amazing person. The vampire froze, frowning. "Have I said something wrong?"Jason turned on the water. "It's just...you say these things...that make me feel all warm inside." God, he was an idiot. "They are simply the truth...'"No one's ever said stuff like that to me before.""Then everyone else is a fool." Asher stepped into the shower, hugging Jason. "I love you.""I love you too." He relaxed in Asher's arms.Asher stroked a hand down Jason's back, raising the wolf's come covered hand to his mouth, slowly licking it clean.Jason shivered. That was so...hot! "God, Asher. You know how to make a guy cream himself.""Pardon?" He quirked a brow.He looked horrified. "I-uh...didn't mean to say that out loud." Asher smiled. "Non, Jason. I want you to be open with me...""Mon Loup?"Jason stepped under the spray of water."Yes?" Jason turned to face him, water pouring down his body."Will you tell me what you meant?""Just watching you lick my hand clean...it was hot.""Ah... I see." Asher picked up a cloth, lathering it before he knelt before the were, slowly stroking his cock clean."You don't have to do that." His voice was low and full of lust."Oh, but I do, Mon Loup..." Smiling, Asher rinsed the wolf, then leaned forward, sucking him deep.Jason stumbled and nearly fell. "Shit, Asher. You could warn me before you do that.""Shall I stop?" He asked innocently."No." He growled."Ah." Asher leaned forward, flicking his tongue over the tip of Jason's cock. "Good..."He managed to force air into his lungs.Someone began to beat on the bathroom door. "Jason! Asher! Jean-Claude's been shot." Jason recognized Nathaniel's voice. He sounded frantic.Asher jerked back, paler than death as he stared at the door. "Non... Jean-Claude!" He flew from the tub, opening the door. "Where?"He began dressing, ignoring that they were yesterday's clothes.Jason followed him, grabbing his clothes. "Some woman came in and asked to talk to him. I-I took her to him. I didn't know she would hurt him." Nathaniel was crying.Asher didn't have time to placate the leopard. "Where is Jean-Claude, Nathaniel?!""Lillian took him to the were hospital." He said, afraid of the tone of Asher's voice. Jason hugged him as they headed to the car. "It's not your fault." He looked at Asher. "It'll be faster if you fly. We'll meet you there."The second to the Master of the City was gone before Jason had finished speaking.Jason got Nathaniel into the car. He managed to calm the cat down enough to get more details out of him.Nathaniel was in tears as he explained, shaking. He would be punished severely for this lapse, and he deserved it. "She... she seemed nice... short, blonde.. unable to harm anyone and she shot him, Jason! If he hadn't moved... she'd have gotten his heart... I... I tried to get her, but she... I couldn't... I..." "Nathaniel, it's ok. Jean-Claude will be ok. You came and got us. You did all you could for him so just calm down. Breathe deeply." Jason parked by the were hospital and ran into the building.~~~~~~~~~~~~Asher glared at the snot nosed doctor. "You cannot tell me that I cannot see him!"Jason pulled him away from the nurse. "Asher, let the nice lady do her job." The nurse scurried away. He scowled at the were. "I have to see him, Jason! He... he could be dying. Drinking of me will strengthen him!""And might kill you." Jason said. "If he's that far gone he might take too much." He wasn't going to let either one of them die. "My blood will help him and it won't be dangerous."Asher growled fisting his hands in his hair as he paced the hall, unable to think clearly. His only real ration thought was 'not again'...Jason managed to get in to him and give him some of his blood. He headed back out to Asher. "He's going to be ok. We can see him soon." He sat down in a chair. "Nathaniel said the news had already showed up when he left to get us." Staring at the wolf, Asher shook his head. "Non..."He rubbed his temples. "The bullet missed his heart and his lungs. He'll be ok." He heard shouting from the other room. It sounded like Edward. He looked over at Asher.Asher growled as he stood, moving until he saw that it was indeed the assassin... In less an instant, he crossed the room and pinned Death to the wall, punching him solidly on the jaw.Edward sank down. He would let Asher hurt him as much as he wanted to. He deserved it. "Is he going to make it?" He asked.Shoving him into the wall once more, Asher hissed at him. "No thanks to you, abruti. He will recover."Jason touched Asher's arm. Death was still, taking everything Asher threw at him. That worried him. "Good." Edwards said gruffly."As if you care. You left him. Coward." Asher shook his head, walking away. "I have press to face.""Shit, Edward. Asher didn't smell it but I do. You'll bleed to death if you stay there." Jason helped Edward into one of the rooms. He called for a nurse. He'd been shot recently and probably should've been in bed, but he came to see how Jean-Claude was. Jason sighed. Jean-Claude sighed at the nurse the next evening. Asher was finally calming down, as was the media. Mysteriously, his assailant's body had been found mutilated and tortured almost beyond recognition. Nathaniel had identified her by her scent. "I have never had a more difficult patient than that Ted Forrester. Believes he knows best... who cares if he was shot and lost nearly enough blood to kill him?" The nurse grumbled and Jean-Claude sat up."What?" Within moments, he was out of the bed, and searching the hospital. He was now mostly healed, thanks to donations of blood from his most powerful vampires, and even from the Ulfric of the Thronnos Rokke Clan. Edward was half asleep in his bed. He'd been sloppy and gotten himself shot on his last job. He should have been resting, but when he heard about Jean-Claude he'd dragged his sorry ass to the hospital.Ignoring the nurse's insistence that he lay back down, Jean-Claude hurried into the hall, quickly catching Edward's scent among the many there, and followed it to the assassin's room.He reached for his gun as Jean-Claude burst into his room. He let his hand fall away as he saw Jean-Claude in the doorway. "You..." Suddenly, Jean-Claude felt foolish. Edward was fine... hurt, oui, but certainly not here because of him, and nor would he appreciate his concern. Especially now, you idiot. The Master of the City stared for a moment, then began to turn to leave the room."You shouldn't be out of bed." Edward struggled to sit up. His whole body hurt from being slammed into the wall by Asher. "You nearly died.""Don't." Jean-Claude shook his head. "And I am fine."He felt kind of dizzy. He bowed his head. "I came as soon as I found out.""You shouldn't have concerned yourself.""I was afraid you would die and I'd never get to see you again.""A funny time to be concerning yourself." Jean-Claude moved to leave again."I'm sorry." Edward said. "I am a fool." He rubbed his hand over his face. "I can't stop thinking about you, worrying about you."The Master of the City's voice was cold, "You should have thought that earlier, Death.""I know." He grabbed his side as he slipped out of bed. He wouldn't stay here any longer. He grabbed his clothes."Lay back down, Edward. If you are so upset about being in the same hospital as I, I will leave.""I can't be here, Jean-Claude, and not want you. This city is yours. I will leave." He managed to pull his pants on. He tossed the hospital gown on the bed.Jean-Claude sighed, looking down. "What do you want from me, Edward? There is nothing I can do to please you..."Edward had fresh, still pink scars on several places on his body. He pulled his shirt on hiding the scars.Swallowing at the sight of the scars, Jean-Claude could not stop himself from going to him and raising the shirt, touching them. "What happened, Edward?"He jerked back. "Nothing."And he would lie to him so obviously after everything... Jean-Claude squeezed his eyes closed, feeling his heart breaking again. Shaking his head, he turned, leaving the room.Edward touched his side. This was why they couldn't be together. He lived a dangerous life. Jean-Claude didn't need the added danger. He didn't know why he'd lied to him. He knew Jean-Claude would worry if he told him Van Cleef was coming after him, that he'd put a hit out on him. Asher watched his friend walk down the hall, then leaned in the doorway of Edward's room. "You know, Mon Loup told you that I didn't notice your injuries... However, he was mistaken. You see, as a vampire, I knew all too well. I just didn't care." "I figured." He grabbed his jacket. "Don't worry. I won't be coming back so you don't have to threaten me to leave.""Oh.... but you aren't understanding." Asher stepped into the room and shut the door behind him. "You, Edward, are not leaving.""What are you talking about?" Edward didn't go for his gun but it was tempting."You're not leaving. I thought it was simple.... largest word being only two syllables....""Fuck you, Asher. Now move." He growled. He wasn't screwing around with the vampire.Move, Asher did. He pinned the assassin to the wall in the blink of an eye, disarming him at the same time. "You love him?""Get off me." Edward managed to keep his voice level."Not until you start using the lump three feet above your ass, Death." Asher's voice mocked him."I can't be with him. Van Cleef is after me. I'll get him killed. Is that what you want?""You're killing him, Edward. Is that what you want?" He sneered."I'd rather break his heart, than see his blood on my hands." Edward said softly.Asher smacked him. "You called us monsters... and the 'man' that I see before me is more of one than I have ever known. A coward.""Call me all the names you want, it doesn't change a thing." His face stung, but he deserved it."You have no idea what you are doing to him, you fool." Asher released him, shoving his hair back.Edward rubbed a hand over his face. "I do know and I hate myself for doing it. I have a hit out on me, Asher." He didn't want Jean-Claude to know, but he wanted Asher to back off."Edward... what do you do when someone tries to kill you?""I kill them, but Van Cleef has an army behind him. It would be suicide." Asher shook his head. "Then if you can't kill them, you make it worth their while to keep you alive, Edward. And I do not care if I have to tie you to mon Ami's bed. you are staying.""You're going to force me to stay?" Edward said. "You can't force us together.""Non, but I can slam common sense into you." He shrugged."Fine. I'll go with you, but I doubt Jean-Claude will like it." He said gruffly."Oh, but you're wrong again. He will love it, though he'll tell himself he doesn't want to." Edward drove them to the circus. He knew he shouldn't be doing this, but his life didn't make much sense lately.
