The sun crept through the slit in the curtains, pushing all darkness away. The sounds of birds could be heard, singing their lovely songs that they sang every morning. It was nice to hear such a joyful song at such a negative time. The streets were already filled with people, they were up early going to work. Of course the wolves had to work too, they were after all half human and had to survive in the wicker world they were placed in.

Charisma yawned, stretching her arms out in a full stretch. It felt good to stretch her muscles out, although she agreed it was much better to change into a wolf and stretch out, that way you got to stretch out completely.

“Morning Charisma” a voice broke through the silence.

Charisma’s mother Ingrid was standing in the door way. Charisma pulled the pillow over her face and groaned.

“Today is my day off, I don’t have to be up this early!” she hissed.

“Don’t act like you weren’t awake already” her mother sighed.

Charisma didn’t have a response. She simply pulled the pillow back from her face and gave her mother a faint smile.

“So, why are you up so early mother?”

“I received a phone call” her mother paused.

It seemed like forever before she spoke again.

“Astrid called, she told me what you did..” her mother eyed her.

“I did nothing mother” before she could finish she was cut off..

“You pleaded for Vivian’s life, you went to Gabriel..for God’s sake..to save that traitors life?”

Her mother’s voice held something different in it.

“It was not like that. Astrid was driving him insane mother! What was I to do, she has lost everything. Gabriel left her, and the only thing she had from him died..HE died mother!” Charisma’s eyes glistened.

“Rafe was an important man mother! Not only Gabriel’s son, but the future of this pack..he would’ve made a great leader!”

Charisma shook her head.

“Do you not understand the heartbreak this poor women has endured..She couldn’t lose another, she would completely break!”

Her mother had nothing to say. She just stared at her daughter with a blank face.

“I suppose I understand, just don’t be getting mixed up with other’s problems. You don’t want anything to jeopardize your chances of being Gabriel’s mate!”

“I know mother. I know..now go, so I can get ready”

“Ready for what?”

“The day of course..”

Charisma slid out of bed and motioned for her mother to leave. Charisma was actually quite beautiful. Long black hair that seemed to flow endlessly down to her buttocks. She always brushed it out and tied it up to where it hung to her mid back region. Her face was perfectly sculpted and well defined, her nose was not big, but not small either. It stuck out with a sharp point, everyone said it made her look ‘stuck up’. Her eyes were a lovely green, that didn’t seem to mesh well with her black hair, but this was a unique trait that her father had passed along. She slipped on a well fitted shirt, and some pulled on some jeans. Yes, today she was going to look casual, she didn’t have anyone to impress, well at least not until the next time she went to the club. She jumped a bit at the sound of her cell phone ringing. She forgotten to turn it off. Oh how mad she would’ve been if it actually woke her up. She walked slowly to the dresser that the phone was on and looked down, she had to squint a bit to see who was actually calling. She sighed, picked the phone up and answered.

“Yes?”

“Good Morning Charisma..I trust you slept well..” the other voice on the phone didn’t sound to pleasing.

“Ulf, don’t try and flatter me. Why are you calling this early?”

“Hmm, well I guess I should tell you that Gabriel has asked me to inform everyone of tonight’s plans. There will be a hunt tonight!” his voice sounded pleased.

Charisma danced around, but held her voice to be serious..

”After the last hunt, if another survive’s I don’t know if I’d be able to hold our part about the river. It was quite disappointing that we actually didn’t catch the last one..the first ever to make it to the river..” she was becoming angry.

“Charisma we are all upset dear, not just you..”

“Yes, yes I know. So let’s bet, I kill the meat before you do..”

“Ah. Now why would I want to make a bet like that? What do I get if I win..” his voice held a hint of perversion in it.

“Not what you are thinking, but I will bow and show submissiveness to you..since I know how nice it feels to be bowed to..” she laughed.

“Ha ha, we were young and I wasn’t as fast as you, but I think we all know who will win tonight..

” “Yes, in your dreams..anyways, I’m off to start my day. See you tonight Ulf..”

“Goodbye”
