Calling Edward
It took only ten seconds for my phone to ring. Yeah, I was counting, so sue me.
“It’s Anita.” “Are you sure?” Edward’s voice carries through the line. “No, I’m calling just to chat and figured you’d call me back sooner that way. Yeah, I’m sure. He left me a wonderful welcome home note.” “Now’s not the time for sarcasm Anita.” “Sorry, you know I tend to be more sarcastic when I’m scared.” “Tell me what the note says.” I read him the note. Short, sweet and to the point. Well, maybe not sweet but you know what I mean. “What do you think?” I ask Edward when I’m finished. “Are you still at your house?” “Yeah, but I’m not alone. Jason and Nathaniel are here.” Notice that I don’t tell him that Nathaniel lives with me. And they say I don’t keep secrets. “What do fur ball and fang-face think of that?” “I’m not sleeping with either of them. We were just hanging out and I didn’t feel like taking them anywhere. Besides, Richard and I were over a long time ago and Jean-Claude knows exactly what my relationship with them entails.” Why am I explaining myself to Edward? It’s not like it matters what he thinks about me anyway. “Dumped the Lycan but not the Vampire. What about all your other boys? I assume Jean-Claude knows about them as well.” Shit, shit, shit! I do not want to go into this right now. “Edward, we can discuss this later. Right now Olaf is here and I need to know what to do.” “You’re right. I’ll be there within the hour. I’m close to your area in Chesterfield.” “What are you doing there?” “Just don’t go anywhere till I arrive. Keep the boys with you but don’t tell them anything if you can help it. ” “Alr….” Damn I hate when he hangs up on me. Walking inside I take a deep breath and go into my room. Jason and Nathaniel are sitting on my bed still fully dressed and wide awake. “Why are you two still up?” “Waiting for you.” Jason grabs my hand and sits me between them. “What’s going on?” “What makes you think something is going on?” Jason looks at me and with an effort grins and says. “Anita, something is always going on with you.” I give him a little half smile in return. “Alright let’s go into the kitchen for some coffee and discuss it there.” Getting to my feet I walk quickly into the other room. My mind racing to try and figure out what to say to pass the time until Edward arrives.
