She's a Sea Elf
When the world is darker than I can understand. When nothing turns out the way I planned. When the sky turns grey and there''s no end in sight. When I can''t sleep through the lonely night.I turn to you. Like a flower leaning toward the sun. I turn to you. ''Cos you''re the only one. Who can turn me around when I''m upside down.I turn to you. When my insides are wracked with anxiety. You have the touch that will quiet me.You lift my spirit. You melt the ice. When I need inspiration, when I need advice.I turn to you. Like a flower leaning toward the sun.I turn to you. ''Cos you''re the only one.Who can turn me around when I''m upside down.I turn to you.Where would I be? What would I do?If you''d never helped me through.I hope someday if you''ve lost your way.You could turn to me like I turn to you.I turn to you. Like a flower leaning toward the sun.I turn to you. ''Cos you''re the only one.Who can turn me around when I''m upside down.I turn to you.I turn to you. When fear tells me to turn around.I turn to you. ''Cos you''re the only one.Who can turn me around when I''m upside down.I turn to you. I turn to you. I turn to you.- Melanie C" I turn to you"Chapter three:She''s a Sea Elf " Jarlaxle Baerne." Repeated to herself. " If it suits you, you may just call me Jarlaxle." he said and offered his hand to help her up. Nari accepted. Writhing slightly as she stood. The pain in her leg was still unbearable. " Do you want me to carry you?"Jarlaxle asked. Nari looked at him." Can I trust you not to take advantage of me?" Jarlaxle looked at her and nodded slightly. And slipped his arm around her waist to help support her as she limped slightly. He slowed his pace for her." I suppose we had better hurry." He said. " How? My leg? It would slow me down." Jarlaxle smiled," Well I suppose that does present a problem."He thought for a moment. He then whistled. The sound of hoof beats came towards them. Artemis rode to them, with Jarlaxle''s horse''s riens in his hands. " I told you to move on." Jarlaxle said," I called for a horse, rather I get a horse and a horses ass." He smiled at Artemis. " You know the men obey the Great Jarlaxle and only Jarlaxle." Artemis said, handing Jarlaxle his hat and eyepatch. He noticed both elves were soaked. " What happened?" "She decided she needed a bath." Jarlaxle said with disdain. " Lair!" Nari snapped." We were attacked by a dragon and I killed it." Artemis was about to talk when Jarlaxle cut in," Well if you did not try to run away then we''d be closer to Calimport and your leg would not be slowing me down." He said and placed his eyepatch over his left eye and put his hat over his head. He mounted his horse. And offered his hand to Nari. She accepted and he hoisted her onto his horse with him. Nari sat side saddled because of her soaked dress. It was hard to put one leg on each side. Jarlaxle reached in his pack on his saddle and brought out another little vial, this one had an orangish liquid in it." Drink." He said. Nari looked at him." Why?" " Do you want to continue to feel the pain?" He asked. She shook her head." Then drink it will numb the pain and put you to sleep until we reach Calimport." She gave him a glare." I promised not to take advantage of you didn''t I?" Nari sighed and accepted the liquid. Within moments she drifted off to sleep. Artemis rode along side his drow compaion." She ran, and yet you are being kind to her." Jarlaxle looked at him and shrugged," She killed a mother dragon. It is rare when a simple village peasent possesses the strength to kill a feirce dragon. " "And?"Artemis asked. " She used a sea chant. She is a Sea Elf.Perhaps there is more to gain from this simple girl then a scrifice." Jarlaxle mused. " The only thing you might think to gain from her is her virginity." Artemis stated. Jarlaxle smirked." You know me all too well, Artemis Entreri. But perhaps I....might...." He trailed off and glanced down at Nari. She had snuggled her head against his collar and touched her hand upon his hand, the one which held her waist."....damn she is so innocent." Jarlaxle muttered to himself. Artemis glanced down at this and smiled." I think she might have taken a liking to you." He mused." Or maybe she is dreaming that she is being held by a family member." Jarlaxle only nodded." So what are you going to do once we get to Calimport?" Jarlaxle asked. Entreri thought for a moment." See my dear halfing friend, Dwahvel. " Jarlaxle looked at him," You think she remembers you?" He asked. " Of course. Dwahvel is one of my closet companions Jarlaxle." " How close?" Jarlaxle leered at him and Artemis knew what he meant. " Not...that close. So what about you Jarlaxle? Venture to the tavern with your men? Get drunk? Find some company for the night?"Entreri mused. " I could....but I must entertain my little...." He paused to think of what Nari was. She was not his hostage as she went willingly. She was not really his guest either."...Sea Elf." He finished. " Are you going to try and seduce her tonight?" Artemis Entreri asked. Jarlaxle thought for a moment." That is for me to know and you to find out." He said and smiled. Hours passed. Nari awake as the horse stopped. Her vision was at first blury. But she could tell the group and Jarlaxle had stopped in the town of Calimport.Jarlaxle dimounted his horse and slid a drowzy Nari down. Where he again tied her wrists." I can not take the risk of you running again." He stated. Nari only nodded in understanding. Jarlaxle noticed her drowzyness and sighed. He took her wirst gently and lead her to the market place. Many of his men had already scattered around. And Artemis Entreri went to see his dear halfing friend. So leaving Jarlaxle with Nari. " Where are we going?" She asked softly. " Taking you shopping for some clothing." He said. " I realized that this journey is going to take several days. I do not need a smelly sacrifice." He said. And noticed Nari stopped." What is it?" Jarlaxle asked impatiently. " If we are going to be seem in broad daylight together. You might as well untie me. People might think it supisious that a drow is tugging along a bound sea elf." She pointed out. Jarlaxle thought for a moment." Very well. But you have to hold my hand." He said. " I''ll hold onto your arm." Nari stated. " Fine." Jarlaxle said and untied her and offered her his arm. Nari slid her fingers around it. His skin felt so warm. But Nari shook it off and glanced around the market. It was full of all kinds of races and beings.Stands and shops. She caught sight of the tavern. Then looked at Jarlaxle." I....I..." She started. " What now?" "I''ve no money with me." She said and blushed slightly. " I said nothing about you buying did I? I will be the one getting you the clothing. Perhaps if you are nice to me, I might just get you a piece of jewelry." Jarlaxle explained. " And in return?"Nari asked. Jarlaxle paused in walking and glanced down at her." You have to share a room with me at the Inn tonight." Nari''s eyes widened with panic. Before she opened her mouth to protest, Jarlaxle spoke," I did not mean make love to me or do me any sexual favor.Just keep me company." " Oh, I suppose that would be alright then." Nari said and curled her fingers around his arm again and leaned her head on his shoulder." You know what might be fun?" She asked. " What?" " Since we are going to be seen togther like this, we could pretend that we are married." She said with a smile. " Honostly the thought of marraige terrorfies me. How about no. Pretending is a child''s way." He said to her. Nari smiled." Very well. Fine, I guess I''m dealing with a " Grown up". To be honost you are the first guy not to treat me like a baby.Thank you." She said. " Trust me, I am beyond grown up." " Oh, yeah what are hundreds? Thousands?" She asked. " I''ll let you guess that." " Please tell me." She begged. But was caught off that course as soon as they reached a cothing shop. They entered.Jarlaxle took her by the hand." Stay with me. This is the best way I can think of."He said. Actually for once being serious. ( Okay, just to clarify. I know nothing about clothing shopping back whenever R.A. Salvatore''s books take place. So just bear with me) "On second thought." Began Jarlaxle eyeing a wooden model and an outift he liked for himself. " Can I trust you to stay here, with the dresses. Pick whatever one you like. "He said. Nari nodded." I promise, I woun''t go anywhere." " Good." Jarlaxle said and walked over to the counter to speak with the owner. Nari meanwhile eyed the dresses. They seemed very expensive and gorgeous. One caught her eye right away. She turned back to look for Jarlaxle. She could not find him. She ran over to the counter." Sir there was a drow up here not a moment ago....where is he?" She asked. The little man at the desk looked at her." You must be his lovely wife he was boasting about. He went into the changing room to dawn his new outfit." He said to her. Nari went into confusion.'' Wife?'' her mind asked. She glanced over at the changing room, where Jarlaxle emerged. He wore a black long sleeved shirt with buttons in the front. The top three were un buttoned and the nape of his neck and collar were exposed. He had a new black leather belt and new black leather pants and the same boots. His hat and eye patch were still on him. Nari''s jaw dropped slightly. He looked so handsome like that. " Ah, darling there you are."Jarlaxle began.Walking up to the counter to join his"wife". " I...." Nari struggled to talk. " Have you found a dress?" Jarlaxle asked. Knowing that she found him hot.He took her hand and placed a kiss upon it.He looked at the man at the counter and lead Nari back over to the dresses. He he let go of her hand. Nari stared at him longer then glared," No pretended, eh?" She asked. " he asked who you were, at first he assumed you were my daughter. And honostly I would rather not think of you like that. You are too beautiful." He added. Nari blushed slightly and this brought a smirk to his face.
