Ralph then blew the conch and called a proper meeting to tell everyone the rules thus far. Meanwhile, Angela merely sat with the little 'uns and gave her opinion every now then when it mattered most. She noticed how the little 'un saw her as the only mother figure on the island and insticntivlly clung to her. While Jack and the others were gone, she had taken the time to gather up everyone's name and she could name everyone off no matter how many time you shuffled them up like a deck of cards. Then came the matter of the Beastie.Angela listented intentivlly as it was described as a snake-thing ever so big and last seen in the woods."You couldn't have a beastie, snake-thing, on a island this size. You only get them on big counties like Africa," Ralph stated and Angela backed him up by stateing she hadn't seen a snake that big on the island before and doubted would show up out of the blue since snakes that big can't swim. After the meeting Angela grabbed some of the boys to get work on the huts while Ralph, Jack, Piggy and a couple others went up to the mountain to get started on the signal fire. Angela would have liked for Piggy to stay and help with the little 'uns since he knew some stories but she knew they would need his glasses to start the fire and he wasn't going to part with for a long period of time. In the end, one of the other boys voluntered to watch over the little 'uns and began a game of Red Rover as Angela etched out the plans for a simple hut before she and the boys she picked went off into the woods for materials."Why the rush?" Simon asked, noticing her agitation and how hurried she appeared. Normally, Simon would have gone up the mountain with Ralph and the others, but he decided to stay and help Angela. He felt a certin detachment from the others but he felt drawn to her for some reason and he wanted to know more about her."Well, it gets cold at times during the night. It also rains by surprise so we don't need anyone catching cold before they're rescued. The huts will also protect you all from...anything that roams around at night," Angela said as she gathered up with vines for twineing and Simion got the feeling that she was hiding something.* * * *As Angela dealt with the huts, Ralph dealt with with signal fire. Even though Angela objected, it was pointed out that the mountain was the highest point and anyone out on the sea would have to see it. So she just frowned and went off to take care of her task. It took a couple tries but the fire was soon started and Angela glanced up in the middle of buidling a hut with Simon and some other boys to see the fresh smoke bleeding off the top side of the mountain. She knew that the smoke would disturb the creature inside and rial it up...and it did.On the mountain, smoke waifered through the air and went deep into the mountain where the creature laid dreaming of a feast. It took a couple breaths before the creature snorted and woke up to realize that he was smellingke. ke. The creture growled under his breath once more and seeing as how he couldn't get back to sleep he began to pace his sleeping area as he began to wait for the sun to set so as he could tear his claws into those who violated his home by setting a part of it on fire.Angela frowned as she could feel its agitation, even from how far away she was."Something wrong?" Simon asked and Angela was snaped back to the beach. Angela began to consider telling him about the creature and then she remember when she had told the first set of castaways that arrived after the creature got rid of her plane. Needless to say they didn't believe her, that is untill the creature dropped down into their camp that night and stole away one of the men into the woods where the creature ate him alive. Angela shuddered at this memory and remembered how she made it a point not to tell the new castaways about the creature untill one of them had seen it. But he was still a young boy and would be able to believe her...right?"Something. Let's hurry," Angela simply said as she got back to work and Simion raised an eyebrow at this. Just then the fire crew returned and Angela was relieved to hear that the fire would be left to die out and they would return the next day to start it back up again.* * * *As dinner was had that evening and more stories were told around the cooking fire, which Angela had started up by using the stick trick and some dried grass, she began to think of a way to get the creature out of the mountain so as to keep the fire crew and their signal fire safe. She knew she had to keep these boys safe so as they could be rescued and be returned to their families. Yet she herself couldn't leave until the creature had been destroyed. She knew the creature would live just as long as her and would continue to draw people to island to appease its hunger. She knew the grief this caused the familes of its victims from having lost their loved ones and ot having thing of them to part with or bury. Se coe couldn't leave untill she had killed it...somehow.She excused herself sometime before sunset and made her way to castle rock where she took out all her belongings from her sanctuary and took it to a spot by the mountain...the nature spot where she felt the safest and where she found the best vines formockmocks. While she putting this stuff down in the middle of the area, she hears a rustiling of the bushes and looks up in their direction just as they stop moving."I know you're there," Angela says with her arms crossed, thinking that one of the little 'uns had followed her, "It's best if you come out rather than I come in there." She hears a sigh, the person comes out and she is surprised to see that it's..."Simon?!" Angela gasped as he approached her with a stern look on his face."What are you doing with all that stuff?" he asked surprising her by his sudden straight forwardness for want of the truth and curiosity was winning out over shyness and his normal self. She opened her mouth to lie but something in the back her mind toldher that he deserved the truth. With a heavy sigh she looked him in the eyes and did just so."There's something on the island Simon, a creature that's really old and really bad. It sleeps during the day, in the mountain and roams around the island at night...looking for fleash to eat," Angela explained."Why didn't you say anything back at camp?""If you haven't noticed, there are a lot of little 'uns who don't need that fear just now. Also Jack and his crew would want to go hunt it but they'd just get themselves killed...and the others like Ralph and Piggy wouldn't believe me untill they see it," Angela said, pationtlly at first then sadly at the end. Simon got the feeling she had been through this before and began to feel sorry for her."Is that...how the others...?" he asked, finding him self unable to complete the question. Angela nodded her head."Not all of them. The more fortunate ones were rescued with my help, I made sure they got off this island in one peice.""Then why are you still here?""I can't leave untill it's been killed. I've tried before but unfortunatly it's not as easy as it sounds. It doesn't like the sunlight I c I can hurt it with weapons but the damn thing heals to fast for the wounds to take proper effect.""I see...so, what's your plan now?""I'm going to lure it out of the mountain and to Castle rock where I've placed wards all around it. Normally they keep it out but I removed one and fixed it so that if I lure it in...""All you have to do is lure it in and lock the door on the cage," Simion said excitedly and Angela smiled, begining to like him already. Yet she wasn't expecting him to say what he said next."Can I help?"TBCNext) Entrapment
