We have forever (The story of Jake and Nessie)

A/N: Chapter 4 is complete!! I didn't add a whole lot, but I hope you enjoy it!! I have big plans for Chapter 5 and any suggestions of things you want to see happen between Jake and Nessie let me know inspiration is always welcome!!


Nessie's POV

It was 5 minutes after 10 when I pulled up in front of Charlie's house. I listened to him pacing back and forth in the living room.
"Charlie, sit down please she just pulled up in front of the house." I heard Tanya say. I got out of the car and ran into the house.

"I'm really sorry for being late, but I don't know my way around town very well, I got lost." I lied. Charlie glared at me, but his eyes softened when I gave him a shy smile.

"This is you first offense Nessie so I'll let it go, but don't let it happen again, ok?"

"I promise." I would have to find other means of seeing Jacob. I knew with Tanya around sneaking out of the house was not an option.

"You'd better get to bed. You've got your first day of school in the morning." I walked up the stairs to Momma's old room. It was so different from the way I remembered it in her memory. The walls were now white and covered in beautiful hand painted designs that matched the beautiful dark purple carpet and curtains that Tanya hand made. The furniture used to belong to Tanya's biological mother it had been with her for centuries. It was all a dark cherry with hand carved designs that matched the ones on the walls. A brand new computer sat on the desk, a gift from my parents, next to a picture of my family. I took the picture and lied down on the bed I felt my eyes fill with tears as I thought about my family in Alaska and before I knew it I was woken by the sun shining into my windows.

I jumped out of bed and grabbed the toiletry bag Momma had given me out of the closet and my clothes and ran to the bathroom. I showered and dressed quickly excited to start my first official day of school. It was a nice sunny day, which was rare for Forks. I grabbed my back pack and skip down the stairs.I was almost to the door when I heard Charlie clear his throat behind.

"The sun doesn't bother you does it?" He asked when I turned to face him. I knew what he meant by "bother," he was asking if I turned into a disco ball in the sun.

"No, it doesn't bother me." He looked relieved. Charlie was very concerned about keeping the secret of his extended family, a secret that he refused to come to terms with. He just recognized that we were all different and that was enough for him.

"Be back right after school. I will be at work, but Tanya will be here waiting for you." I knew by the way that he said "Tanya will be waiting" that he knew we planned to hunt today. It had been almost a month since I'd hunted, but human food kept me well sustained. I hadn't hunted with anyone except my parents and Jacob for as long as I could remember, but I was looking forward to hunting with Tanya we had the same tastes.

I arrived early at school. Forks High School looked exactly the way it did in my parents memories nothing had changed in the last year and a half. I pulled into the parking lot which was empty except for an old looking Volkswagen. I wasn't as good with cars as my dad was, but I knew the make by the symbol on the back. I had never seen the car, but I knew it some how I just couldn't put my finger on it. I got out of the car and walked toward the building where the main office was when the wind picked up and I caught his scent.

"Jacob?" I asked without turning around. He came up behind me quietly and if I wasn't half vampire I would have never heard his approaching foot steps. I felt his warmth before I felt his arms close around me.

"Hi, Nessie." He said softly in my ear and kissed my cheek.I turned around in his arms to face him.

"What are you doing here?"

"I never finished my junior year and I figured now would be a good time to start up again."

"I thought you had to go to school on the rez?"

"Nah, I got into a fake fight with Quil and they kicked me out and since Forks High is the only other school around they sent me here."

"Did all this happen today?"

"No, after you were born actually I couldn't stand being away from you so I got kicked out of school so I wouldn't have to go. After you left last night I couldn't think of a way that we would get to see each other again and then I remembered you telling me about having school tomorrow. So, here I am."

"I have to go to the office to get my schedule."

"What a coincidence so do I." He said as he laced his fingers with mine and we walked hand in hand to the office. The woman sitting behind the desk did not even look up when we stepped into the office.

"Name?" She asked rather sternly.

"Um, Carlie Denali." I answered. Jacob gave me a confused look, "I'll explain later." I whispered too low
for the secretary to hear.

"Here you go." She said still not looking up and slapped down several papers on the desk."Bring the white sheet back at the end of the day and make sure to have each of you teachers sign it."

"Thank you." I said as she finally looked up. Her eyes grew wide with fear when she caught sight of Jacob, and I couldn't help snickering at her reaction.

"Can I help you, sir?" She asked straightening up in her seat.

"Name's Jacob Black. I transferred over from Quileute High School over on the rez."

"Don't you mean you got expelled from Quileute High School." The woman said as she looked up his record on the computer.

"Yeah."

"Well, Jacob Black," she said emphasizing ever syllable in his name, "here is you schedule and make sure you attend all of you classes and get this signed by your teachers." Jacob took the same stack of papers out of her hand that she handed me.

"Do either of you need anything else?"

"No." We said in unison.

"Well get to class then."

We walked out of the office and across the courtyard to the main school building.

"Man that lady was nasty!" Jacob said breaking out silence, "What's your first class?"

"I have AP Calculus." Jacob's mouth fell open in amazement. "What? I have all AP classes except gym because there is no AP physical education, but if there was I would be taking it."

"What else do you have nerd." He said as he yanked the schedule out of my hand. "AP Latin, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP History, and AP English? Damn! I feel dumb just standing next to you."

"Stop it Jake!" I said as I snatched my schedule out of his hand. "We're going to be late for class I'll see you after school, ok?"

"Sure, sure." I stuck my tongue out at him as we walked to our classrooms.

The school day flew by. I had tests and assignments that I had to make up in each of my classes from earlier in the semester. It was just over a month in to the school year and I was already really behind according to all of my teachers. I looked through all of the assignments that I had to make up, none of them posed any real challenge to me. I could easily hand them all in tomorrow, but I didn't want to make anyone suspicious so I decided to hand them all in within the allotted time frame. School was just a major nuisance standing between me and spending time with Jacob; I would have remind myself to kill my father for suggesting my attendance.

School sucks!! After my first day at Forks High I remembered why I took a break from academics. Being a werewolf full time was definitely better, but seeing Nessie everyday might make it bearable; staying in school was the only way I would be able to see her. Sneaking around was not an option with Charlie's bloodsucker of a wife hanging around. Don't get me wrong I like Tanya, but her loyalty to Edward meant she would do what ever he asked which pretty much meant Nessie would be on a short leash.

The school day couldn't have dragged more than it did today. I was anxious to see Nessie and I all but sprinted out of my last class to the parking lot. She beat me there. She was leaning against the back of her car with one foot on the bumper and her hands in her pocket; she looked beautiful. Her long dark brown curls were cascading down her back in wave and her skin had the faintest sparkle, like glitter, in the sun. I walked up to her, put my arms around and kissed her passionately while all the students in the parking lot stared.

"Wow, Jake. You missed me that much, huh?"

"Like you wouldn't believe." I said as I spun her around. The sound of her laughter sent chills down my spine every time I heard it.

"I've got to get home. Tanya and I have a hunting trip planned for this evening."

"Oh," I was disappointed I was hoping to have more time with her, "I miss hunting with you."

"I do too, Jake." I couldn't stand seeing her look sad.

"Hey, we've got the rest of our lives, Nessie. I love you and I'm not going anywhere." I said as I put my hand under her chin and kissed her softly on the lips.

"I'd better go, Tanya's waiting for me."

"Ok, I'll see you in the morning."

"I love you, Jacob Black, with all of my heart. And if it wouldn't break my family's hearts I'd run away with you tonight."

"We have forever, Nessie. Some day your family will accept us and we'll be able to have the life together that we both want."

She gave me a sweet smile and a kiss on the cheek before she got into her car and drove away. Even though I knew I would only have to survive the night without her my heart ached. I didn't know it was possible to love someone as much as I loved Nessie.
