Something Dark Dwells TherePrincess LemonDisclaimer:Lord of the Flies and all related characters don't belong to me. They are properly own by William Golding (god rest his weary soul) Angela Angel is a character that I've borrowed from AJ Angelique from her Thundercats fanfics. The creature is of my own creation so don't come to me talking about lawsuits unless you want to thrwn into a pool full of mud because all your getting from me is raspberries :*With that said and done! Let the show begin!!!San...3Ni....2Ichi..1*static*__________4) EntrapmentThe moment that the sun sank below the distant horizon, the creture bursted out of the moutian like pent up lava and sped down the mountain side to the beach. It moves swiftly andf quickly, not waistign a single step as it only has one thought on his mind...kill.Before long, the creature is at the edge where beach and forest meet and it is actually surprised to see two huts up on the beach thus far. It lets out a growl and all the boys look up to see it's dark form in the light of the dying camp fire. It got ready to charge and rip anyone it got its hands on to shreds when it was hit by a coconut. The creture let out a freash growl and turned in the direction that the object came from to see Simon standing no more than ten feet away. In the light od the dying fire, Simon bears a strong rememblance to the boy that the creature had killed the night before it showed itself to Angela.'I thought I killed him,' the creature thought, very confussed. Simon smiled, turned on his heels and ran way from the creture."Oh no you don't," the creature said and chased after aSimon who lured it away from the beach and all the way to Castle Rock where he ran inside the cavern that once was Angela's sanctuary. Yet once inside Simon found that there was no other way out. He cursed under his breath and turned around to leave only to find that the creature was in the room as well."Big mistake boyo," the creature said and forced him against the rocky wall with one hand."I don't know how you survived but I'll make sure you stay dead this time," the creature said and Simon looked at the creature confused as it raised his free clawed hand to tear Simon to ribbions. The creture never got to law a claw on Simon though for there came a bright white light that made the creature howl in pain and let go of Simon who took this moment to scramble out of the room. The creture hissed in qanger at the loss of his victim and gave chase...only to run into an invisible barrier that Simon was able to pass through."I bet that hurts," Angela said as the creature slid down the barrier a bit, the friction giving off a pitched whine before the creature got up and began to tear madly at the barrier."It worked, That barrier that kept it out keeps it in as well," Simon said with a growing smile and the creature stopped what its frenzy clawing when he heard this."Yes it does...we should tell the others now," Angela said and Simon nodded in agreenment before he followed Angela back to camp at the creture stood there glaring at the both of them.* * *Back at camp, Angela found a not so happy Ralph and Jack waiting for her. The moment they saw her, they threw a million questions at her about the creature."Boys!" Angela said in a mother's voice and the two hused right up, in fact the whole camp did."Ralph, Jack. The creature has been contained. If you wish to hear anymore on the matter I sugest you walk with me. The rest of you are to stay here with Simon, Piggy and Roger,," Angela said and walked away from camp. The two boys merely glanced at each other before they hurried up to catch up with her."Why..." Ralph started to ask but Angela knew allready what he was going to ask."We have to talk about this away from the Littleu'ns. They are scared enough as it is already and I don't wish to cause them any nightmares tonight...also, you have t osee it fro yeleveleves to reassure them," Angela said as she continued to lead the puzzled boys to Castle Rock.* * *The walk to Castle Rock was quiet and uneventful. They didn't know how long it took but they got there just the same. Angela led them to the opening of the cavern but stayed outside of it, wary of the creature that had hidden itself now."Well, I don't see any creature," Jack said."It's in there," Angela said and pointed at the opening."Really?" Ralph asked, not believeing such a story as Jack curiously peered inside the opening. Just then, a pair of red eyes glowed in the darkness. Both boths were startled by their appearance and Jack jumped back in the nick of time as the creture jumped out to grab him...only to run into the barrier once more and slid down it while Ralph looked on with a drop jaw look and Jack snorts."This is the mighty Beast?" Jack asked and Angela nodded."Yes. This creature has been on this island for countless years and has taken the lives of many men," Angela said."What's holding it in there?" Ralph asked as he began to tap the air and pulled back his finger just in time to prevent it from getting snapped off by the creature's teeth."Magic wards I had learned about during my travels around the world. They keep the creature in bulowslows us to pass freely in and out so we have to be careful...allthough, this is the first time I've used them to hold the creature into a place before though," Angela said, trying to hide the worry in her voice from the boys but the creature picked up on it just the same."How long will it last?" Jack asked."For the night, then it will fall and I wiave ave to re-cast them in the evening.""Why the evening?" Ralph asked."Because, this thing can't survive in sunlight...at least, that's what it's told me."Both boys looks at Angela with shock washed faces."It can talk?!" they both exclaim."I can do more than talk," the creature said and the boys scramble away from the barrier to get closeer to Angela."What now?" Jack asked."We leave it e...e...for now," Angela said and lead the boys away from Castle Rock."You can't keep me here forever! I will find a way out!" the creature called out to them."Don't listen to him," Angela simply said and the boys merely nodded in respinse. While Ralph pondered over what he had just learned and Jack was facinated by it, Angela was worried for she knew what the creature said was true. There would be a day that her wards would fail or it would find a way around them. Angela picked her brain about this problem as they returned to camp and the two reassured everyone else that the creature had been dealt with."Why hadn't you killed it?" Roger asked Angela syndly at one point."Because, it's not that easy to kill. Now, you all go to bed and sleep in peace. I'll keep watch tonight," Angela said to the boys. Roger frowned at this yet did as he was told. The little uns were sent into the huts to make them safer while most of the older boys stayed outside to sleep under the stars. As everyone settled to sleep, Simon couldn't help but play back what the creature had said in his mind. ABout how the creature would 'make sure he stayed dead'. Simon didn't have long to ponder this though for the sweet sounds of a flute waifered threough the air. While everyone else was lulled to sleep by this music, Simon was intrigued by it and got up to investiagt it only to find that Angela was playing a flute."Where did you get that?" Simon asked, astonsihed by its sudden appearance, as Angela finsihed her song."It belonged to one of the men who came before you. In the short time we were together, he taught me how to play it,gelagela said, sadly."I'm sorry," Simon asked."No, it's okay. It's sad to remember that he's dead but it's good to remeber him before..." Angela trailed off, not wanting to say what happened to him."Another ward?" Simon asked, gesturing to all the sleeping boys."In a way. I'm surprised that you didn't fall asleep though...We must be realted somehow," Angela said."What makes you sya that?" Simon asked."My family is immune to most the wards I cast," Angela simply said and Simon raised an eyebrow at this as something his grandmother told him tugged on his memeory."What is your last name?" Simon asked."Angel.""That was my grandmother's madien name," Simon said and Angela looked at him in surprise."So, we are related," she said as the surprise wore off and a smile painted itself on her face."Then...all those stories my grandmother told me about you are true then," Simon said and Angela nodded."Back there...there creature mentioned something about 'making sure I stayed dead'...what was that about?""When I crashed on this island, I arrived with several men and boy a couple years younger than you. He was my son, Richard Angel the Third...the creature stole him away from me and killed him the night before he showed himseld to me," Angela explained, the last part sadly. "I'm sorry," Simon said, feeling the sadness radiat off Angelina."It's allright, you would have found out sooner or later anyways," Angela said as she sat down on the beach and Simon joined her, souching closer so as to lean against her and she wrapped a protective arm around him."So whar now?" he asked."We take it one day at a time and wait for rescue. That's all we can do now," Angela said. Simon just nodded and the two listend to the sounds of the oceans before they too were lulled off to sleep.TBCNext) Life
