“Oh Sue this is delicious. I can’t nobody has thought about this and in a few short hours you created this.”
“It wasn’t very difficult Esme, all I did was mix the blood with the Jell-O packet and let it cool.”
Things were going perfect, to perfect for Seth to believe. Everyone was socializing and not once had Leah lost her temper. It was all going so well that Seth was worried something had to go wrong. He didn’t know what it was going to be but he knew that something was going to go wrong.
It’ll probably go wrong when I talk to Edward. “Seth why don’t you go and show Edward.”
“Huh?”
“The figurines your dad made out of wood Seth, Edward said he wanted to see them.”
“Oh, oh yeah um come on.”
Before leaving the table Seth drank the last few drops of wine in his cup and took Edward to his room in the second floor of the house. They walked in silence up the stairs and in the room, when Edward stepped inside the room Seth closed the room behind him. Seth knew that after feigning interest in his figurines Edward and he would want to talk about the imprint.
Kneeling in front of his bed Seth reached under it and pulled out a medium sized wooden box. He then sat on the bed and set the box on his lap, when he turned to look at Edward he noticed that the pale vampire was looking around his room. The posters on his wall, the pictures of his family and friends, the huge carving of a wolf his dad had made before he died.
“My dad did this one before he died.”
Laying the wooden box down on the bed Seth walked up to the wooden carving Edward had been staring at. Running his hands over the proud standing wolf Seth smiled, he had been ecstatic when his father had given him the carving. He had at first believed that his father only wanted to give him a carving he made but now he understood that it was because he knew his son would one day turn into what the legends spoke of.
“It’s beautiful, did he make all the ones in the box as well?”
“Yeah he did, I tried to copy him once heh it did not work out.”
Since there was no other area to sit in Edward sat down on Seth’s bed. With a little hesitation Seth joined him and grabbed the box that had been on the bed. Carefully the young wolf opened the box and took out ten wooden figurines. There was three different wolfs, a small family, a rose, a small boy holding a bear, a bird with its wings open, a dream catcher, the sun setting on the beach, and the most intrigued one was a group of men in who Edward assumed were elders from their proud stance and clothing.
“My dad loved making things out of wood; he said it was because it made him feel connected to nature.”
“They’re beautiful; he did a wonderful job on all of them.”
“My dad gave some to Leah to, hers are different things and instead of having them under her bed she has them on her night stand.”
“Why are yours under the bed?”
“To tell you the truth it’s because I’m scares they’re going to break. It would kill me if these broke.”
“I see.”
Carefully Edward grabbed two of the wolf carvings and examined it. He did this for a few minutes before he knew that it was time to bring up the subject of the imprint. Setting down the carvings Edward helped put them in the box and under the bed. When they were out of the way he turned towards Seth.
“Seth there are a few things I would like to tell you about how I feel about the imprint, if that’s ok with you.”
Gulping Seth nodded his head, he had known this conversation was coming and it terrified to know what was going too discussed. “Of course, I’m ready to listen to whatever you want to say.”
“Ok.”
Kneeling in front of Seth Edward thought about everything had wanted to say to Seth, the promise of safety, trust, and love. He had so many things to say he didn’t even know where to start. Taking a breath Edward decided to just let his words flow.
“I know that because of the imprint you are in a vulnerable position. I also know you’re worried that I’m going to take advantage of your vulnerable position and I just want you to know that I would rather die than to do that.”
“You have no idea how clear I want to make this, I will never hurt you, ever. Do you understand that?”
“Y-yes.”
“I also want you to know that even though I am attracted to you I don’t want to jump into a relationship with you until we are both sure it’s what we want.”
“Y-you’re attracted to me?”
Grinning Edward nodded his head. It was almost as if Seth didn’t know how handsome he was. it was as if he wasn’t able to see the lustful looks he would get when he went into town. He’d have to be blind to not be able to see it.
“Of course I am Seth, I’d have to be blind not to be.” Blush instantly stained Seth’s cheeks; he averted his gaze from Edward and stared down at his fidgeting hands. “I am attracted to you Seth but I want to make sure that it’s mutual and not just because of the imprint.”
“Well that’s going to be hard then because my feelings are influenced by the imprint.” Standing up Seth walked towards the opposite side of the bed. Leaning against the wall Seth averted his eyes form Edward. “If you had needed me as a friend then that’s how the imprint would have influence me. If you need me as a lover then that’s how the imprint will influence. So you see, regardless of what I want I will always be influenced by the imprint.”
Sighing Edward stood up and walked towards Seth. Without even a thought he wrapped his arms around Seth. Seth in turn froze but after a few moments completely went limp in Edward’s hands.
This is the first time we’re touching like this. Edward tightened his hold on Seth.
“I really wish that whatever happens with us wasn’t influenced by the imprint. I hoped that if we became lovers it would be because you grew to care for me.”
“T-this stupid imprint ruins everything.”
Smelling Seth’s tears before they came Edward picked up the young wolf and carried him to the bed. Laying down on the bed with Seth he let him cry. Edward was sure that if he had the ability he would cry as well.
“I always thought that I was going to marry a girl from the pack and we were going to have a few kids. I don’t understand why the imprint chooses a vampire for me; we won’t be able to have kids.”
“I’m sorry Seth.”
“Oh, Edward.” Sitting up Seth wiped his eyes and shock his head. “I’m being so selfish, I know this probably wasn’t what you had planed either. God I’m so stupid.” Seth was about to stand up but was stopped but Edward.
“You’re right this isn’t what I was expecting, but I want to make the best out of it.”
Sitting down on the bed Seth felt his lips tremble, he knew he was being so selfish, here he was thinking of himself and not about what Edward had given up for me. “I’m so sorry Edward, I wish you weren’t stuck with me.” Covering his eyes Seth began to cry again, he could just imagine how much Edward was regretting being stuck with him.
“Seth I don’t regret that you imprinted on me. And like I said I’m want to make this work if you are willing to do the same. We’ll just take it one day at a time Seth.”
“One day at a time? T-that sounds good.”
Smiling Edward pulled Seth back down on the bed and hugged him. Again the young wolf instantly melted into his touch. It seemed like even though Seth was trying to fight imprint he still yearned to be touched by Edward.
“We can start by actually getting to know each other. It can just be the two us.”
“T-that sounds good.”
Glancing down at Seth Edward was able to see that the wolf was getting drowsy. He must have not slept well in the last two days. Instead of moving and waking up the teen Edward held still and let Seth sleep.
