Tinkerbell's Musings
A/N: I just wanted to thank all of you who keep checking back to read each new chapter, I very much appreciate it, and I hope that you all are enjoying my writing. Always remember, reviews are my lifeblood!_________________________________Oh... this is very very very not good, the fairy thought to herself as she paced along the length of a branch in Peter's tree. She remembered Wendy, and her hatred for the girl, but that was not what she was feeling now. What she was feeling now was worry, worry for Peter, and for the only place she had ever called home.Wendy had left Neverland, taking the Lost Boys and Peter's heart with her. Though he had put on a brave face when he left the Darlings at their window, his return home did not go nearly as well, and winter reigned in Neverland. He was alone, more alone than he had ever been, now knowing the pain of a love lost. He mourned Wendy as though dead, crouched into a ball, heaving, wracking sobs coursing this his body. But not only was Wendy gone, but also The Lost Boys, Peter's friends and comrades-in-arms, and his companions on every adventure. He did not even have an enemy to fight against, Hook having also gone away and left him behind. The snow fell for a long time, how long no one can know, for time passes differently in Neverland. But it had reached halfway up the great tree that Peter called home when Tinkerbell heard that in the Indian Village, they would not last much longer through the mournful winter. Tink flew down to visit him, an attempt to somehow shake him out of his paralyzing grief. When she arrived, she was very surprised at what she found.Peter was there, curled into his bed in the fetal position, his back turned to her. Peter had always appeared on the cusp of adolescence. Whenever asked how old he was, he would respond 'Quite young' and if asked how long he'd lived in Neverland, he would respond 'Quite long'. However now when he turned at Tinkerbell's call, it seemed that the deep, wounding grief he had suffered somehow had aged him. There were still signs of boyishness in the shape of his face or the turn of his paler, but still sun-tanned ankle, but he was taller now, his shoulders more broad, his chin one of someone near manhood. She had come to shake him from his stupor, but found herself in one instead. She flew away in shock, and did not return until she came over it. But soon, the snow melted away and turned into thundering rain, the rainy sky eventually stopped pouring out its tears and became just overcast, and then, one day, a ray of sunlight peeked through the clouds. After a while, Neverland returned to its normal state of eternal sunshine and fair skies. Peter had forgotten about Captain Hook, the Lost Boys, and he had even forgotten about Wendy. The absorbing grief had faded away after so long to a vague feeling of loss, and then, to nothing at all.New Lost Boys arrived, ready to fight Pirates and adventure, the sun was shining, and things had returned to normal in Neverland. But although Peter did not remember Wendy, or the grief that she had caused, Tinkerbell did, and she did not want to see him suffer that way again.
