chp 6

The power that was Aisling's spread over the land, awakening the passion, the life that had waited for him to embrace it, to love it. When he surrendered to his own need, he spilled that Seelie sunlight into her body, his glow overwhelming her even as his lust was sated in her body. Gold over silver, male over female.

Merry caught her breath and looked around. They were back in her room, her men were shielding the magic that they had created. Adair, shielding beside Doyle, glanced over his shoulder when he felt the magic start to ebb. Frost went to the princess first and helped her stand. Adair went to his brother.

"I feel drunk," Aisling whispered to him.

"It's your power returning," Adair said with a grin. Offering his brother an arm up, he pulled him to his feet. The gold that had melted on his skin was back to being just a sprinkling of light. Glancing past him to the princess, Adair suddenly frowned; the princess was staring at Aisling's back as if it were the most beautiful thing that she had ever seen. "What is it?" he asked.

The princess did not say anything, only pointed. Adair looked; the fine outline of wings like a tattoo covered his brother's back. Smiling, he met Aisling's troubled gaze. "Your wings have returned."

Relieved that it wasn't anything serious, Aisling said, "Then the birds are mine again."

"Aye. Now for Taranis."
