A happy ending

Chapter 6 Final

No one talked for the longest time. Not until they reached the gate of the elven lands, which was more like a bunch of Elves pointing arrows at them. Explaining their situation, the elves where skeptic about it, took all their weapons, but let them into their city. The finest elven priests worked hard and long. The travelers hadn’t seen their companion in days.

One of the priests came out exhausted and sat down to talk with them for a while. “We are sorry, it will take a little longer to get him to want to stay here, in this realm. Not to just fade away. Trying out best he has a worry. About a man named Wulfgar.”

“He’ll never have to worry about him again.” Bruner said. It was a threat to the man that wasn’t there.

The elf looked at him confused. “Is that the man that?”

Cattie-brie nodded.

“We need to get him here immediately then.” the elf stated.

“What?!” all of them yelled, then Regis continued, “After what he did to Drizzt, what you see he’s done?!”

Sighing the elf regretted having to explain this all. “He is worried because of the fact that he was chased away. He kept ranting on how Llothe had caused pain for him and extreme hurt for a man named Wulfgar. How the man hadn’t done it, it hadn’t been his mind controlling the body. We need to see if Llothe has left traces of herself on him. To see if he really was controlled by the damned goddess as Drizzt says he was.”

The travelers looked astonished.

------------------------

It had taken little effort to find the barbarian. He was the only man that big walking aimlessly down the road. After they managed to get the spider out of him, they were glad to say that it hadn’t been his fault after all. He still felt horrible, and refused to forgive himself over all of it. Staying in the room he was given for an entire week. Refusing to see the others. Then the door opened.

“I thought I said I didn’t want to see anyone” he said turning away.

The other figure didn’t leave but just stood there, in the middle of the room, looking at the barbarian who was staring out the window. Not even looking at him.

“I figure… Maybe for me you’d make an exception…” The weak voice said.

Wulfgar couldn’t’ believe it. He looked over and stared at the dark elf standing in his room. Tears coming to his eyes, he nearly started to cry how much they filled them.

“I know it isn’t your fault…Please… stop acting like it was.” Drizzt stated. “If you keep acting that way then I don’t know if it was really Lloth or you just using it as an excuse.” He was still shaky and not fully recovered, but working his way there.

Wulfgar went over and took the elf in a hug. “I would never, purposefully hurt you… It’s just the nightmares keep coming… I let it happen… I can’t believe I let it happen.”

“it’s going to be all right.. The elves here are nice and have offered to help get us through this… at least mostly.” Wulfgar nodded. They wouldn’t say another word to each other that day. The next Wulfgar actually listened to one of the elves about what he could do. And he tried his best to follow everything. Within a year, both of their nightmares began to fade.
