Obsession

For those of you who read the chapter with the White Rabbit before I took it down, this will make sense. But for those of you who didn't, let me explain.

The White Rabbit is a man with rabbit ears who wears a porcealin mask that he NEVER takes off. He is a messenger and prefers no one knows him. There is a constant ticking in his head, getting louder when he is late.

Nothing about this belongs ot me except the concept. All the rest belongs to Carroll and whatever legal advisors his family has.

~*~*~*~*~

You walk into a room and it is completely dark. Not dark in the sense of light-less, but dark. In the sense the there was not, is not, and never shall be, anything. But that does not stop you. You still step over the threshold, posture full of confidence. And like Alice through the rabbit hole, you fall, cushioned by the force of your own belief.

After a fall of undeterminable time, you land, softly, on a pile of old, dusty cushions. Unhurt and only slightly shaken, you dust yourself off. There is a soft light at the end of the tunnel you have landed in and you head towards it. It seems safe, and besides, what is the worse that can happen?

The light turns out to be from a fire in a large, old, open hearth. It gives the room a cheery feel, and you sit down in a very comfortable Victorian chair. Once you are settled in you realize there is someone sitting on the ground by the side of the fire place. It is a strange looking figure and seems very wrong until it dawns on you who it is. At that same moment, he speaks.

"Hello Master. I see you are surprised that I called you that. Didn't you make me? Ah well, at least your belief helps to sustain me. Wonderland doesn't do well to help the body survive.

"I want you come with me. Come to Wonderland and leave your arbitrary existence behind. Unconvinced? Let me explain. If you come with me you will never have to care again. We take care of our own. What you want to do, and will do, will and will not have no consequence on other people. Reality there is mutable. Take the Hatter for example. One day, a Pawn of the White Queen wandered into the Tea Party. Hatter seduced her and broke her mind. She was never the same. But, if you talk to the White Rook, she is just fine. Belief makes reality here. Whatever you want, you can have."

He gets up and comes over to your chair. With the fire to his back, blotting out his details, and the pink of his eyes shining brightly, he looks demonic. But he feels calm. After visibly searching you with his eyes he sits down on the ground at your feet and puts his head on your lap. His mask is cold, but his ears are soft and that makes up for the difference. He sigh quietly as you stroke his ears, and then continues.

"Master, you could come with me to the Tea Party. Hatter would not be a threat to you. How could he be? You know what he is, you know his mind. Once his tricks are known, he has no power.

"Who do you think really runs Wonderland? The Queens? They are far too mad to really see what they are doing. The Kings are toys of the Queens. The courts hold themselves to the whims of their rulers.

"We are the ones who rule. The Cheshire Cat holds the physical power over the Queens, and the Hatter tells him what to do. Being a confidant of the Hatter, I hold power. And you could too.

"Come with me." He slides a gloved hand up your leg.

You stop his hand and question whether this is a matter of sex. Behind cold porcelain, he laughs and rubs the mask against your leg in mock apology. "Everything is a matter of sex, because of how much one can be manipulated during sex. The way it is seen in your world and the way it is seen in my is completely different. In yours, it is a means to express things such as love, interest in reproducing, or even just physical attraction and stress relief. Here, we are too mad to love, except in very twisted instances such as the Mad Hatter and the Cheshire Cat. We in Wonderland are stuck in an ageless existence and so, do not have children, save for some very unimportant people. The Duchess, you know her, she has a child that will be that way for eternity.

"We don't really see people in extremely defined ways. We have trouble in separating male and female in our mind. It's really based on level of desire. Right now, I desire you. And it wouldn't matter what gender you are. It just matters what qualities you posses.

"So, will you come with me?"
