Summary: Caeru finds sweet release.

I stood in the doorway, my eyes disbelieving of the scene in front of me.

Caeru.

He looked so young and innocent. Untarnished by the stress and bitterness of our years together. He sat on the floor, naked, with his legs tucked under him, his feet crossed one on top the other. He looked at me with wide, beautiful eyes devoid of makeup. The har had his hair down, brushed to a sheen and unstyled. His hands were held out in front of him, elbows down and hands in the air, fingers relaxed and curled into his palm.

Aghama. His wrists.

I ran. I stopped in front of him and dropped to my own knees. He still looked at me, his wide eyes now drooping. He was so, so beautiful.

I pulled him into my arms, careful to cradle him gently. Why I treated him so sweetly now after how harshly I have treated him in the past, I do not know. I watched him breath, I watched his eyes, I watched the way he curled his hands under his chin like a child.

I watched as his wonderful eyes closed. I watched as his breath stopped. He just…left. He left easily, gently as the pool of crimson from his wrists spread about the floor. There was no agony, no turmoil in his eyes. Just release. Sweet release from the unforgiving hell that was his life.

He looked so innocent and angelic in my arms, like a harling before Feybraiha.

I’m so sorry Caeru. I failed you.
