Summary: A darkish piece of prose that I had to get out of my system, much like Mr. Wonka seems to have things he needs to get out of his.

"Shh…"

It was practically every night once it started.

In quiet.

On tip-toe.

The darkness…it hides so much.

And the darkness hides too.

His sweetness is only a candy-coating.

Removed as easily as that velvet coat.

Of all the secrets I thought I’d keep, I never guessed this would be one.

He’s become like the sneaky spies he hates so much; desperate and greedy.

Why don’t I scream?

Why don’t I tell?

Why do I keep all the secrets for the Candyman?

Maybe it’s because he always leaves a perfect white rose behind.

A kind of repayment for my innocence.

Did he ever have any, I wonder.

Is that why he must steal mine?

But I forgive him.

Because it’s my fault.

I wanted to help.

To teach him that touch was safe.

But it’s not.

It’s dangerous.

Very dangerous.

As usual, he was right.

So this is my punishment.

That I must suffer in silence.

Even when it hurts.

Because my dark secret is that…

I enjoy it.

Author's Notes:

Um, all my readers are too wonderful for words. This piece was meant to be a simple reminder to myself as to what drew me to the darker side of fiction in the first place - a "pure" piece if you will. I placed it first at "wonkadarkside" within the Live Journal community for whom I began writing "Is It Scary" in the first place.

A very good friend of mine from Live Journal who goes by "piscaria" and writes the magnificent flowing and detailed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (CatCF) fan fiction, "Fondness Makes the Heart" referred to this piece as offering images in between the words more than the words themselves. That was very accurate. I meant it as a provocative piece.

To see fan art by a_d_a_dweller at Live Journal, go to: http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b308/LinkTheHylianHero/FirstfinishedFanart.jpg

I am always honored when someone feels compelled to do something to make any sort of creation based off of my work. Thank you. Check out their journal for a sample of their writing on CatCF as well. Anonymous comments are OK.

FREE TUNES: http://www.sendspace.com/file/8w4yyb - Go there to get Pink's album "Try This" (in zip form) which contains the song "Oh My God" which I found very inspirational.

I promise that I am still working on my other stories and...thank you for more kind words than I ever would have thought I could deserve. It overwhelms me at times. <3
