How It Should've Been
My first Twilight Au!
Yes,this is an OC heavy fiction, but since the love interest is Embry I think it calls for an OC.
Trust me on this.
To repeat an action over and over and expect a different result is insanity
New York is a very grey place. Grey skies, grey sidewalks, even grey buildings. Everything blurred together as you rode by that it seemed you were in a bubble that was coated grey.
It was a place the live,if you lost your soul.
Soft green eyes watched their grey world flow by without much emotion. The pale skin they were set into was drawn over the bone beneath, deep and ugly scars shining almost like a beacon to all those who saw.
"You sure you want to do this?"The eyes blinked as the driver of their car interrupted their thoughts. Black pavement, the only color right now, melted by as they turned from the window.
"I was sure three months ago. I'm sure today. Stop. Asking"Even New York winter nights never reached the freezing point of that voice.
"You don't need to take that tone with me"Parental control wavered in the driver's voice, trying to control the situation.
"...I'm tired."It wasn't an explanation, but it was the only one that was said."Are we almost there?"
"Almost. He isn't expecting you"
"I know"
The car pulled up into a small airport. The owner of those green eyes quickly slid an oversized hoodie on,pulling the too large hood over their face.
"I'm always just a phone call away."
"I know dad"With that the figure slid from the car, pulling a large patchwork backpack with them. The driver watched from the closed door as they headed inside, taking care as to not to bump anyone.
There was nothing he could do anymore.

"Carrie Swan was borderline 19 years of age. At five-foot four inches, and rocking at 134 lbs,she was on her way to being a rising star in the fashion world. All ended a year ago when she disappeared. Family claims that she ran away, while friends are pointing fingers at ex-boyfriend Derek Freeman."-New York Fashion News.
Charlie sighed sadly when his eyes drifted over the clipped out news article. A year,it's been a year since his niece vanished. The only child to his older brother of two years,he was the only one in the family who didn't believe she had run away.
A rare day off for the sheriff of Forks,he didn't think it'd be spent remembering that dark day. He hated having to find out that she was gone through a newspaper article. Jonathan hadn't even bothered to call him until after.
Downing the rest of his cold coffee he placed the cup into the sink. With a sigh he headed to his phone, planning to call Billy and see if he wanted to head out for a fishing trip. The doorbell ended that thought train.
With sure steps he headed to the door. Opening it quickly the greeting he was about to give died in his throat when he saw who had been knocking.
"Morning Uncle C. Couch still a pull out?"
…
To say Bella was surprised would be an understatement. School had been weird since the students from La Push had to go to the Forks high school. Seems a senior had flushed a cherry bomb down the reservation's school's toilet, ruining the septic tank.
Now home she finds her cousin Carrie, who everyone thought was never coming back home, sleeping on the pull out. She looked horrid.
Scars from burns and knives ran down her arms and the bit of stomach Bella could see from the shirt pulled up in sleep,on her face were deep scars starting from the edge of her lips to the start of her ears. Another ran just under her left eye. The facial scars were deep,as if they had been gone over and over.
Edward, who had driven her home from school, came up behind her. He stared at her cousin oddly, not knowing who she was and unable to get the knowledge from her mind. With his usual gentleman nature he pulled the sheet up higher onto her.
"Who is she?"
"My cousin. Everyone thought she ran away"
"I don't think so. Those scars aren't self inflicted."
Short first chapter,but it works.
I don't know if I want to full describe Carrie or not,but I will say this: She has many more scars, not all physical.
