Prom Baby

I had been looking forward to prom ever since Edward asked me to go with him. It was quite romantic how he asked me I just couldn't say no. I mean dinner, taking me up to the mountains how more romantic could you get. Tonight was going to be the night I would go all the away with Edward. We meet our Junior year when I first moved here to Portland. I fell for him at first sight. He was gorgeous. My friend Jessica said he would rarely go out with girls. Rumor was if he didn't get what he wanted he would dump her. That's what happened to this one girl named Tanya before she moved away. I thought she was joking, but it also made afraid it would happen to me.

Unfortunately it didn't. Edward told me that he would not pressure me. That he would wait until I was ready. I can't tell you how many times we came close to doing it. I asked him once if he had ever done it before he just smiled at my question. Why Edward didn't leave the first time I told him no I don't know. Alice had said because he thought I was different from the rest. How different I don't know.

Tonight was going to be a night to remember. Charlie gave me money to get my dress. Edward and I had decided to coordinate the color. I found a aquamarine colored dress that fit perfectly. It was long and strapless. I didn't tell Edward what it looked like. Just told him the color. As prom night approached, I felt nervous. Butterflies danced in my stomach. My heart raced in my chest ready to burst out. I knew Edward was waiting for me downstairs. I kept him waiting on purpose even though I had finished getting ready a half hour ago. I stared into the mirror. The person I saw was not me but my mother. Charlie said I looked just like her. I wish she was here. I miss her so much.
