Something Sweet

A/N This starts just over a year after the movie ends. I’m taking it that Charlie was 12 in the movie so he’s 13 here.

Chapter 1

To say that Willy Wonka was happier than he had ever been was an understatement. He had found a friend and “hair” in Charlie, had reunited with his estranged father and found a new family in the Buckets. Add to that the fact that, with his and Charlie’s combined inspiration and love for the world of candy, the chocolate factory was doing better than ever and yes, you could say that Willy Wonka was very cheerful indeed.

So he was understandably concerned when, one day, Mr. And Mrs. Bucket came to him with very serious looks on their faces. All sorts of terrible thoughts began to run through his head, the worst being “They’re all leaving…and they’re taking Charlie away.”

“Mr. Wonka?” Even through his worry, Willy rolled his eyes inwardly. Even after a year Charlie was still the only person who referred to him by his first name.

“Mr. Wonka, we have something to tell you,” Mrs. Bucket began. He screwed his eyes up, waiting for the blow. “You see,” she glanced at her husband, “ Charlie…isn’t our only child.”
