Chapter 2

Disclaimer : I do not own anything related to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. That is the property of Roald Dahl/Warner Bros. I especially do not own Johnny Deep/Willy Wonka, if I did then I would be off indulging in my little fantasies instead of writing them down here ; )

Chapter 2

Willy widened his eyes. When he finally managed to speak it was to choke out the words “D..does Charlie know?!”

Mrs. Bucket smiled. “Of course. I guess we’d better tell you the whole story.” Willy sat down on a (strategically placed) bench, motioning for the Buckets to do the same. “Well, a few years before Charlie was born we had another child…a little girl. She was so beautiful.” Mrs. Bucket’s eyes began to fill with tears and she clutched her husband’s hand. “But, we’d only just gotten married and Mr. Bucket had just lost his job, putting the labels on soda bottles. Almost the whole town was unemployed…it was just after you’d closed the factory.” Willy bowed his head at this.

“So,” she continued, “We decided to put our baby girl somewhere where she would have a better life than we could provide for her. Being selfish people we didn’t put her up for adoption, we wanted her somewhere where we could find her in case times changed.”

Mr. Bucket spoke up. “So, Mr. Wonka, we put our little Annabelle in the orphanage. It was about two years before I got a stable job, in the toothpaste factory, but soon after another baby was on the way.”

“Charlie.” Willy replied. Mr. Bucket nodded.

“But you see Mr. Wonka, times have changed. I’ve got an even better job now, we’re living here with you…the thing is…we were wondering, if it would be ok if....our daughter came to live with us here. We ask because, well, you know Charlie is living in the factory quarters now.” It had seemed only rational that Charlie, on becoming a teenager should have his own room and privacy in the factory. “Well, we can hardly expect a 16 year old girl to live and sleep in a house with holes in the ceiling and roof. She wouldn’t have her own space.”

Willy smiled and stood up. “ So, you wish to ask me if she can stay in the Chocolate Factory’s sleeping quarters?” The Buckets nodded. Willy looked at them, the first real family he had ever had. If this girl was anything like her family, he was sure he would come to see her as a friend. Beside he would do anything to please them and, ”Charlie? He is fine with it?”

“Oh yes. He’s always wanted to know his big sister. And…we’ve actually been writing to her for the past few months. It’s like we’ve known each other all our lives!” Mrs. Bucket finished.

Willy smiled, showing all of his perfectly straight, white teeth. “Well then, it’s settled.” And bidding them good-day, he strode out of the room, twirling his cane and singing his own introduction song to himself.

A/N Review! I’m hoping to get the third chapter up tonight or tomorrow.
