Chapter 7 ~ Hole in the Ground

The red neon sign read Steven's hole in the ground, a nice name for a bar and grill. The funny thing was that that was its name for long before he became a vamp, so he didn't have to change it... yeah I have a weird sense of humor, then again it's pretty much manditory for my line of work. Thats if you don't want to go crazy with stress.

I was greeted by laughter as I saw my uncle talk to a few customers in the corner, even in undeath he was still the guy that caused people to laugh. He turned to me as he placed a white towel that he was holding over his shoulder as he spread his patented smile, though now it had a set of fangs to go with it. He had been a vampire for alittle over a year and it didn't seem to phase him, then again he was always a night person.

"How's my favorite nephew? any girls yet?" He nudged me in the side with his elbow as he laughed at his own joke. A slight chuckle escaped my lips as I looked at his face, usually a big no no when it comes to vampires, but Uncle Steven was family and he promised never to do it, on purpose that is. He did it from time to time on accident but that was usually when he was concentrating on something else. He was still new to the whole vampire thing, I gave him a break.

"Naw not yet uncle, but one day ya know. Besides that I'm doing pretty good, how about you?"

Uncle Steven shook his head as he smiled, he lead me over to the bar as I sat down on one of the red leather stools, as I sat down and looked up he was already infront of me.

"Shit! I told you to stop doing that, I hate it when you play little slight of mind games"

He looked at me confused as he slowly realized what he had done, a sheepish grin appeared on his face. Though with the fangs it seemed like a wolf in sheeps clothing, wow metaphors go me.

"Sorry, it happens ya know...Don't really think, ah well life's been pretty good. So whens the next family party? and hopefully this time it'll be during the night... I swear that your Auntie Megan is trying to avoid me."

I could only smile as I adjusted the stool, the family had been quite saddened by his sudden death. Though when he rose from the dead three days later it kind of shocked the family, we didn't really know what had killed him, though we kind of figured out he went to work again. He was still apart of the family, alive or undead your still apart. See this is were I get it from... ok maybe not. Well Aunt Megas qus quite confused and alittle scared by this whole situation, she was my aunt and she was his sister. Though being related to a living breathing dead guy would pretty much cause anyone to question everything. Though she was slowly coming to the realization that they were still family.

"Ah I'll see when it is and I'll try to get it sometime in the late afternoon, you know how late our family parties get..."

A slight smile appeared on my face, though it would fade as I realized how hungry I was. My uncle had realized it even before I had as he had already placed a plate infront of me, the aroma of the food rose to my nose as I looked at him, a smile still upon faceface.

"Uncle!, and you wonder why the family is kinda apprehensive around you... you and food appear out of no where. Jeez"

He could only laugh as he began to clean a clear mug that lay near him.

"Hey at least I'm not like those other blood suckers that make my customers wait forever for there food."

I could only laugh, because he was telling the truth. Though they were alive, ah well nobody's perfect. I could only grin at the fading joke as I began to prod the food before me, a few weeks earlier he had placed a fake finger in my food that resembled his own. You should have seen me as I jumped... ok maybe not, but I swore to him that if he did it again I was going to 'playfully' spray him with some holy water... He promised never to do it again, but it was my uncle you never could be so sure.
