Saving His Soul
Chapter 8
Chapter 8
Carlisle looked at Alice’s x-rays with a frown. Richard had told him where to find them and as soon as they had made sure James was off the scent they went to retrieve her medical record. This young woman had been through so much. The doctors notations about her body were heartless and cruel. They had tried many things to stop the visions with none of them having any effect. The most recent and horrifying was the use of electric shock therapy whenever she had a vision in front of someone. This was made all the more horrifying as they made her lay in a bathtub of water while they did it, making the current even stronger. It was a wonder she had even survived. Her tiny body had been bruised and broken. He was also positive of her rapes. He’d been told by Edward but he saw the evidence in her medical record. Not that the doctors in that place had admitted there had been rapes. That would sully their image to much. She had too much scarring and Carlisle could tell without a doubt that she would never be able to have children. His still heart clenched for the loss of this girls innocence.
He looked up at the door to find Edward there. “Don’t bother telling her. She already knows.” He told his father.
“What she has been subjected to is inhuman. It is much worse than anything we could have done to her.” Carlisle said angrily. Not for the first time, but definitely the most serious time, Carlisle regretted not being able to kill humans. Taking out the people involved in this mess would be very satisfying but that little girl needed them more.
“It was one of the orderlies who raped her. I won’t subject you to the details, I will just tell you that he was as cruel as he could be. She is afraid of doctors now. You might want to hold off on examining her.”
“Is she in any pain? Does she need the examination?”
Edward thought for a couple seconds. “No. She is fine. She is healing inside faster than I would think possible.”
“I believe Jasper might have something to do with that.”
“He does. They are destined to be together. She has had visions of it. Surprisingly her touch calms his thirst. He can be around her comfortably as long as they are touching in some way.” Edward said in wonder. Carlisle looked at him shrewdly.
“Perhaps if Jasper can find his fated mate than you are surely destined to find yours. You do so deserve some happiness.” Edward smiled wryly at Carlisle.
“According to my new sister, my mate is not far off. I will meet her this go around in forks.”
“Wonderful.” Carlisle said with a smile. “Then our family will be whole.” Edward nodded to him in doubt and slid silently out of the room. “It is about time all of my children found happiness.” He muttered.
